Here I am (on your far left, as always), with my companions for the 2008 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue Experience. Apparently only I know how to get my picture taken without red-eye. The foxy brunette in the black dress held down the biggest job in the magazine industry: editor of the SI Swimsuit Issue.

Melissa Baker taking her hair into her own hands. Hey, they have professionals for that kind of thing.

More of Melissa Baker from her 2008 SI Swimsuit Issue shoot. This guy had the unenviable job of applying her body makeup. By hand. Well, it's a dirty job but somebody has to do it.

What the heck, I've decided to treat you to more glimpses of model Melissa Baker from my October 2008 trip to St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands as a winner of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue Experience. Here's Melissa and the session photographer Rapahel Mazzucco, who was also the photog for the Swimsuit Issue 40th Anniversary Exposure, fdr which he shot models including Rachel Hunter, Elle Macpherson and Rebecca Romijn. We naturally hoped we'd get to see some famous supermodel too, but at the time Melissa was a rookie making her first swimsuit issue appearance. Her agent had told her she'd never be chosen...so she fired her agent and hired a personal trainer, and here she was. Her first , she stepped on a spiny sea urchin and had to soak her foot all night in a bucket of vinegar. Ah, the glamorous life.

Me and supermodel Melissa Baker at her very first Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue photo shoot on St. John. I was one of the winners of SI's annual trip sweepstakes that year. The title is the magic phrase I uttered to my colleague and photographer Scott just before the shutter clicked that made her crack up so.

My soon--be-former-neighbor Messengered me this morning that she had be moved a.m. Without a car at the moment, I walked over from my place to hers. I must be pretty fast because I just beat the driver of the pickup truck that she'd somehow managed to get to show up. Of course it turns out I must walk a little too fast because they asked me to walk to the nearest store to get them a Coca-Cola while they transacted whatever..."business arrangement" she'd made with the driver to talk him into lending his services.
My first thought was: Damn, I've been doing this all wrong. I'll bet I could get a whole fleet of trucks show up at my door.
Also: Fuck a car, I'm going to myself a truck, because damn.
When I came back they'd left on some errand or other, so I got to be there alone when the manager came pounding on the door and told me I'd have to leave the room. He also told I'd have the door open and when I countered that this would let her cats out of the room, he told me I had to take the cats out of the room as well. So I struggled to try and get both of her cats into her duffle/cat-carrier.
"Stop playing with them," the manager ordered.
"I'm not playing with them!" I countered. "I'm trying to get two cats into a bag! Have YOU ever tried it?"
Fortunately at this very moment friend returned and stowed the cats away, then she and I loaded the back of the pickup. Naturally, the driver sat in his truck the whole time. I shudder to think what he'd have asked in return for moving his ass out of that truck to lend us a hand.
I, of course, in addition to walking the of miles or so or whatever it is and back on several occasions to out my lady friend, have rendered aid and assistance innumerable times and never got squat in return.

If I'm not mistaken, this was the site of the Vixen's Gentlemen's Club in Mobile, Alabama. I still have my membership card. I was a member in good standing.

Laundromat Girl was once again desperate to see me last night, and a miraculous chance a friend of mine with her own car dropped just before I received the word from L.G. She even was willing to let me borrow the car. But before we could back it out of the driveway, there was a horrible grinding noise and part of the drive train fell off.
Why is the whole world conspiring against Laundromat Girl and I getting together again?

They say you only hurt the one you love but it's not like that.
You can only hurt the one who loves you because they're the only ones who really care what you say.
