Excuse me Mr. Obama, I mean Senator Obama, sir. Um . . . know you are busy and important and stuff. I mean running for president is very important and . . . ah . . . I hate to bother you. I will only take a minute ok, sir?

See, I have these missing pieces that are holding me up, and I was wondering sir, if you could take time out of your busy schedule and help me out. You know, no big deal, just some loose ends and things.

Hey, you have a nice place here! The wife sees houses like this on TV all the time and says boy she wishes she had digs like this you know? Is that painting real? Really? Wow. I saw something like that in a museum once!

Oh, sorry sir. I didn't mean to get off the track. So if you could just help me out a minute and give me some details, I will get right out of your way. I want to close this case and maybe take the wife to Coney Island or something. Ever been to Coney Island ? No, I didn't think so. .

Well, listen, anyways, I can't seem to get some information I need to wrap this up. These things seem to either be 'locked' or 'not available'. I'm sure it's just some oversight or glitch or something, so if you could you tell me where these things are . . . I . . I . . . have them written down here somewhere . . . oh wait. Sorry about the smears. It was raining out. I'll just read it to you.

Could you help me please find these things, sir?

1. Occidental College records -- Not released
2. Columbia College records -- Not released
3. Columbia Thesis paper -- 'not available'
4. Harvard College records -- Not released
5. Selective Service Registration -- Not released
6. Medical records -- Not released
7. Illinois State Senate schedule -- 'not available'

11. Harvard Law Review articles published -- None
12. University of Chicago scholarly articles -- None
13. Your Record of baptism-- Not released or 'not available'
14. Your Illinois State Senate records--'not available'

Oh hey . . listen! I know you are busy! Is this too much for you now? I mean tell you what. I will come back tomorrow. Give you some time to get these things together, you know? I mean, I know you are busy, so I will just let myself out. I will be back tomorrow. And the day after.

"Who wants to know these things?" asks Senator Obama.

Columbo answered:

THE PEOPLE Sir, Just THE PEOPLE

Islamophobia has become the new Cold War of the 21st century.

When all else fails, blame the Muslims. that's the name of the new 'game'. When issues are not the case, point a finger, accuse the opponent of 'being one of them'. It worked in the 50's when the word 'communist' was the worst accusation possible, why not play by those same rules?

We are living in different times today. We are able to see beyond the finger pointing today. Today the rules are slightly different . in the 50's, the fingers were pointed at individuals or organisations, today they are pointed at entire nations.

As a , I was taught in school that 'Islam was the religion of the sword'. it was something to be wary of, something to watch very carefully. We were being prepared to face the 'new enemy'. It was 'the next in line' after communism. the enemy of the future.

Looking back to my early school years it's hard not to remember the 'air raid drills' that we had during class. We were told that the Russians had nuclear bombs (thanks to the American spies Julius and Ethel Rosenberg)
good Islamic sounding names BTW}. We were also told that they planned to use those bombs on us. We were issued 'ID' tags, much like the ones issued to soldiers. On it was our name, address and names of our parents. We were told to put these under our tongues whenever there was a drill. During the drill itself we had to crouch under our desks. It was explained to us that if there actually was an attack, we would be able to be identified by the tags in our mouths, and our parents could then be notified.

??????????????????????????????????????????????????

That logic makes about as much sense as the rest of the Cold War. Notify our parents???? They weren't killed as well??? They were only two blocks away when the bomb fell. SHEESH!

Jump to the 2000's same bomb, same fear. different enemy-Iran, which just happens to be an Islamic nation.

As a side note, let's take a look at that bomb. who was the first to get it? Who was the first to use it?? On August 6th 1945 the United States dropped that bomb on the civilian city of Hiroshima. Three days later they dropped another one on the civilian city of Nagasaki.

SO. from those two actions alone we can see who the real enemy is. As Americans, you were lied to by the government your entire lives anyone that lived through the Cold War and McCarthy era can see that. Why then are you swallowing the line that Islam is the enemy?

Let's look at some realities.
Who at present is the aggressor in Iraq?
Who is threatening to literally wipe the Islamic Republic of Iran off the map??
Who is systematically killing off the entire nation of Palestine???
Anyone with eyes, ears and a functioning brain can see who the actual enemy is.
Islam is the victim, not the enemy.
The attempts by the West and by Israel will not alter that fact. The dehuminisation of Islam will not change the above realities.

Overcoming ignorance is the only way to change the situation. Look at the realities of the world we are living in. look at who is holding the guns, dropping the bombs. with your money.
Only you can put an end to this.

When is a holocaust not a holocaust?

When the perpetrators call it a victory.

04/10/08 "ICH" - -- Although the "surge" has failed as policy, it appears to be succeeding as propaganda. It seems to be the only thing that supporters of the war have to point to, and so they point, and they point, and they point. Allow me to point out that while there has been a reduction in violence in Iraq -- now down to a level that virtually any other society in the world would find horrible and intolerable, including Iraqi society before the US invasion and occupation -- we must keep in mind that thanks to this lovely little war more than half the population of Iraq is either dead, crippled, traumatized, confined in overflowing American and Iraqi prisons, internally displaced, or in foreign exile.

Thus, the number of people available for being killers or victims is markedly reduced. Moreover, extensive ethnic cleansing has taken place in the country (another good indication of progress, n'est-ce pas?). Sunnis and Shiites are now living more in their own special enclaves than before, none of those stinking mixed communities with their unholy mixed marriages, so violence of the sectarian type has also gone down; and the powerful movement of Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sadr has had a cease-fire in effect for many months, unconnected to the surge. On top of all this, US soldiers, in the face of numerous "improvised explosive devices" on the roads, have been venturing out a lot less (for fear of things like ... well, dying), so the violence against our noble lads is also down. Remember that insurgent attacks on American forces is how the Iraqi violence all began in the first place.

Just imagine -- If the entire Iraqi population over the age of 10 is killed, disabled, imprisoned or forced into exile there will probably be no violence at all. Now that would really be victory.

No American should be allowed to forget that Iraqi society has been destroyed. The people of that unhappy land have lost everything -- their homes, their schools, their neighborhoods, their mosques, their jobs, their careers, their professionals, their health care, their legal system, their women's rights, their religious tolerance, their security, their past, their present, their future, their lives. But they do have their surge.

All You Need To Know

As you know: In the face of public outrage over -- and House rejection of -- the Bush administration's attempt at a $700 billion extortion -- a "gift" of your money to the very same people who have caused a global financial crisis -- administration hacks reacted in predictable fashion, throwing in another $100 billion worth of bribes in a shameless bid to get the bill passed.

Then the Senate approved, by a 3-1 margin, a thrown-together 450-page bill that few of them could have had time to read, much less consider.

Consider? No other options were considered at all, or even deemed worthy of consideration. And suddenly all the pressure was on the House.

The phones were ringing off the hook in the offices of "our" "Representatives", with public sentiment more or less equally divided between "NO!" and "HELL, NO!"

But the House passed the bill anyway.

This tells you all you need to know.

They don't care what you think. They don't have to. You're only a voter. There's a good chance that they can control the way you think, and thus the way you vote. And even if they can't do that, they can still control the way your vote is counted. Ever since they learned how to do these two things -- perception management and election rigging -- they haven't had to care about you one way or the other. Not that they ever did. They never cared about you -- not a bit. The difference now is that they don't even have to pretend anymore.

Meanwhile, very quietly, Congress allocated another $615 billion of your money to keep the Pentagon going for another year of death and destruction -- anywhere, anytime, and preferably by remote control, if the monsters-in-control have their way.

We don't want this. Some of us have never wanted this; others have recently realized that they've had enough! But they don't care. They don't have to.

We have no money for health care. We have no money for education. We have no money to fix our roads and bridges, and we especially have no money for the people who have lost everything they owned, to hurricanes or predatory lending schemes or medical bills. And yet we have hundreds of billions every year for killing foreigners, and hundreds of billions more for ... for what, exactly?

Except that we don't have the money; we'll be borrowing that money to give it away, and paying interest on it forever. It's an enormous "gift" from us and our and their , a gift we have been (or will be) forced to "give".

And the rich will get richer, and the poor will get slaughtered, and if you are an American taxpayer, you will pay for it. That's the New American Deal -- the economic setup for the New American Century.

Comparisons have been made between this "financial crisis" and the "terrorist attacks" of 9/11 -- and rightly so, in some cases. But 9/11 was simply the opening move of the GWOT, and this "crisis" is more like 9/11 than like the GWOT itself. In other words, the fallout from this "rescue" will almost certainly make the crisis itself look like just another drop in the ocean -- an ocean of blood and pain and death.

The point is: both were inside jobs, perpetrated with full assistance of the national media by people who know exactly what they're doing, and how to exploit all the ignorance and fear that they were creating, and how to do it again -- whenever they want to.

As far as I can tell, we have three choices: get rid of it, get used to it, or get out.

Getting rid of it would require forces which do not currently exist, aligning themselves in ways that would never be permitted. This option is theoretical at this point, and getting more so all the time -- unless I am very wrong, which I once dared to hope I might be.

Getting used to it ... well, people can adapt to a remarkable variety of conditions, if they want to, or if they are forced to.

Getting out: When I was a , the people protesting against the war in Vietnam were always taunted with the chant "Love It Or Leave It!" I thought that was pretty good advice at the time, and I still do.

Just coincidentally [?] I've been re-reading "The Selling of the President 1968", by Joe McGinniss. It's an inside look at the advertising campaign that got Richard Nixon elected president, and I will probably write more about it soon. But for now I want to leave you with a conversation between McGinniss and Eugene Jones, the film-maker who was hired to make Nixon look like the answer to America's troubles 40 years ago.

Joe McGinniss:

One night, toward the end of the campaign, as he sat in his office, Gene Jones said, "Look, I get it from my friends, too. I go to a party and the first thing everybody wants to know is, how can you work for that fascist bastard."

He shrugged.

"I'm a professional. This is a professional job. I was neutral towards Nixon when I started. Now I happen to be for him. But that's not the point. The point is, for the money I'd do it for almost anybody."

"My one qualm about Nixon," Gene Jones said, "is that I'm not sure he's got the sensitivity he should. To Appalachia, to the slums, to the poverty and destitution that reside there. I don't know whether as a human being he's actually got that sensitivity.

"I hope he has, because it's really awful, when you think of all the things wrong inside this country now. The hatred, the violence, the cities gone to hell. And the war. All our getting killed in that goddamned war."

He stood, ready to go upstairs, to the third-floor production room, to touch up one of the final spots.

"What are you going to do when this is all over?" I said.

"Move out."

"Yes, I know you're leaving this studio, but I mean where are you going to work next, what are you going to do?"

"No, I didn't mean move out of the studio," he said. "I mean move out of the country. I'm not going to live here anymore."

"What?"

"I've bought myself some land in the Caribbean -- on the island of Montsarrat -- and that's where I'm going as soon as this is over."

"Permanently?"

"Yes, permanently," he said. And then he talked about the direct plane service from Montsarrat to New York, Toronto, and London, and how America was no place to bring up anymore. And all this against the background of the commercials he had made: with the laughing, playing and the green green grass and the sunsets and Richard Nixon saying over and over again what wonderful people we all were and what a wonderful place we lived in.

"... I really don't see any choice," Gene Jones said. "I mean, I don't want my growing up in an atmosphere like this."

Then he excused himself and went upstairs.

If a million seconds is equal to 12 days, then a billion seconds is 32 years. 700 billion seconds is equal to 22,400 years, and a trillion seconds is 32,000 years!

Now, let's pretend that there is no accrual of interest in the above equation...(which of course we know that there is)... And...substituting "seconds" for "Dollars" ...then and only THEN can we begin to get the general drift of the state of affairs we and our posterity are soon to find ourselves in.

For one thing, it is apparent to all but the hopelessly insane that the Federal Reserve fiat currency of debt now in use is irredeemably doomed. There is NO way this debt can ever be repaid in FRN's without unleashing a catastrophic hyperinflation...And...since the US Dollar is the World's reserve currency, it is also a safe bet that things are about to get VERY interesting on a global scale.

Cui bono? Well, that much is obvious...and it's not you or I. However, rest assured that none of this is an accident. (Neither is it an accident that the largest holder of physical gold in the world is the fiat fiduciary fraud known as the Federal Reserve)

What we have metastasizing before our very eyes is a well planned, methodical, cabalistic social and economic engineering protocol on a scale that boggles the imagination of we who are mere mortals.

And...the end result? Well, THAT will truly be a "New World Order" conceived in tandem with an economic feudalism (for the soon-to-be expanded troglodytes of the lumpen-proletariat) that will defy all attempt at description...as it will also beggar the current modern definition of the same...

And...the best part is.....It's coming soon, my friends....to a Planet very near to you.

A Rainbow Called Obama

Before this election season is concluded, I shall be driven to jamming jagged shards of glass through my ears and straight into my brain. That may be the only way to stop the blistering pain of massive stupidity on a scale I have never before witnessed.

Note this:
Democrats were stung themselves by Monday's loss [on the bailout rescue extortion bill] and are working harder together with Barack Obama, the party's presidential nominee, who is making calls to individual lawmakers to shore up support.

In a call to Maryland Rep. Elijah Cummings on Tuesday, for example, Obama spoke of how President Obama could revisit bankruptcy laws to give judges more leeway to restructure residential mortgage payments when threatened with foreclosure.

Obama didn't need to lay out a quid pro quo because the message was clear. And Cummings, a no vote Monday, told Obama he was "open" to changing his vote but wasn't there yet.

"I have to look beyond [the bailout] to a rainbow called Obama," he said. "When you bring in the Obama factor, that's very very important."
"President Obama" could do many things. His record of betrayal on every critical issue thus far is not precisely encouraging. I understate.

Very briefly, I will point out two critical aspects of the above report. As a preliminary matter, I emphasize that many similar reports concerning the Democrats' efforts to ensure passage of the extortion bill are now circulating.

First, Obama and the Democrats fully own the extortion bill. Obama and the Democrats, as much as the Republicans, are nothing but whores for the sickeningly corrupt financial and corporate interests that control the U.S. government. I've been pointing this out about Obama for some time. Furthermore, in their determination to make certain that the ruling class's affluence and power are maintained with the work, blood and lives of "ordinary" Americans for generations to come, both Republicans and Democrats have turned their terrorist tactics on Americans with close to full force. All that is missing are the bullets -- but they may not be long in coming as conditions deteriorate. It should be illuminating (read: nauseating) to see most of those who would condemn brutal police state actions when ordered by Republicans watch identical events in total silence -- and in this context, silence means consent -- because a Democrat orders them.

Second, , Obama's election will ensure the death of significant political opposition in this country for the foreseeable future as much as any single development can. About that and related issues, see another essay, too: "Silenced: Barack Obama and the End of Struggle Toward Truth and Freedom."

To sum up: the triumph of the ruling class, again, the destruction of the present and future for all other Americans, and the annihilation of political opposition, all within a matter of months.

Some fucking rainbow you got there, you of a bitch.

THE RULING CLASS ALWAYS WINS: Extortion bill passes the House, 263-171. And note the profiles in "progressive" non-courage:
Democrats including Reps. Lynn Woolsey (Calif.), Barbara Lee (Calif.), Donna Edwards (Md.), Elijah Cummings (Md.), John Lewis (Ga.), Mazie Hirono (Hawaii), John Yarmuth (Ky.) and Betty Sutton (Ohio) were among those switching their votes to yes.
The power of that goddamn rainbow...

I'm amused by what my mind can come up with some times. For instance Goldman-Sachs; Is it a veddy British marriage title or is it some gold man's sacks?, or sacs? Some sacks of some man's gold?. When the ugly truth reveals itself it usually slices itself away like milk fed veal to present the chickenshit-white, First Matter of the Alchemist burbling at the center. That's a heck of way to start off a commentary but what should I say? Come and get it? Or don't you get it?

This whole pustulating mess that has been presented as a 'free will' experiment. Hey, call it free enterprise if you like. It's still tomayto or tomahto. We assume we have latitude to act with autonomy but we don't know where we got that autonomy from. Confused? Join the circus audience or participant your choice. Put on your clown face. Go bait the bears. Why not ride the bulls and turn the circus into a rodeo? Why not hide in the Sunderband from the tigers? It's all connected and I bet a lot of people wish they were more 'connected' but sorry folks there's only so much room and only so many chairs. Do I hear music? Uh huh.

There's a lot of bad entertainment out there but it really is painful watching bad dancers in the spotlight. I guess we can get into it now. I guess we can call it what it is. Is it steaming in the middle of the road after a carriage has gone by? Does it smell bad? If you have ever stepped in it you know what I am talking about and I guess I don't have to tell you what it is cause, you know, uh huh you know.

George Bush is entirely composed of it, as are his fellows and all the dancers and jugglers and clowns and acrobats. Hey, some of it has covered all the pricey seats in the audience like they were at a Gallagher show. Don't forget to wear your raincoats.

This is what it got you, people. This is what it got you. Go ahead take a bow. Do an encore and ask for more. The crowd loves it.

I've watched this whole thing unfold and I still can't get my head around how such a bad performance drew such crowds. Go ahead work for a lifetime. Believe a lie and then when the liars come on stage, fight your way through the crowd to be the first to throw all of your money at their feet. Offer them your life and your 's too. They expect no less of you.

There's panic in the air. DVD's of wild-eyed Muslim fanatics are appearing in your newspapers as a gift. The bombs are starting to go off; in Yemen, in Pakistan and next stop? Coming to a major population center soon. Funny how all of the high ranking Pakistanis chose not to show up at the last minute for that Marriot buffet all you can kill for only $9.99. That's right. You think back to 9/11 and the Pakistani intelligence involvement and you tell me do you think there is more going on than what meets the eye? Or do you think? Do you reason? Do you wonder? I do but that's me.

Oh this looks like one of those Texas Chili Festivals. I've never been and I truly love chili. I make all kinds of good chili and I would really like to see what some of the other chefs have come up with. But I have never been.

Is it chili or is it shit? You tell me. What does it taste like? Do you know the difference? Can you tell the difference between shit and chili? We'll leave that to the connoisseur.

I think it is about time for the gloves to come off but that's not for me to say. Maybe it's not just gloves but clothes or concealment in general. Time to flush a covey of quails?

I guess all I have to say on this matter is that you shouldn't deceive yourself about who is responsible for the action going on. Bushco and the assorted assortments of the same neo-con ganglion nexus are the shit in the chili. There are other bad guys out there, sure but as for all this this, whatever you want to call it it's all being done by the same people pretending to be other people. They got a lot of weapons and that makes them dangerous. However they are about to destroy themselves because that is what they do. It's too bad they took a lot of you with them.

I know it may seem hard to believe for a lot of you but they are on the run. They may not know that yet but they are. What you need to do is not get into their action. Whoever you are, wherever you are just step away. You don't have to go down with them. You have that choice. What's in play is in play. You don't have to play though. Maybe you hear this and maybe you don't.

I think some people think I'm all about doom and gloom. I am anything but. Just remove your minds and your hearts and your attention from the frantic activity of these vile predators. Their time has come. You don't have to sail away with them.

What am I saying? Why can't I be more clear? Some people won't let you read what I say unless I say it circumspectly. This whole stinking mess of mindless greed and avarice is about to boil over.

If you think the people that created the crisis can fix the crisis you are a fool. They engineered the crisis in order to gain even more control over everything while paying the least amount for it. And they are doing all of this with your money. It's not just bad business and unmitigated greed. It's also intentional. But on their way to all those bright dreams and personal glory on their way to snatching everything for themselves and destroying you in the process they overlooked something and that is that a person's reach should never exceed their grasp. They just haven't grasped that.

These sad clowns have brought the whole circus down. They thought that meant they could sell the items back to the people that paid for them in the first place but but but, or can they? Well that's up to you isn't it? Or maybe there's a joker in the deck and I do suspect there is a joker in the deck and it is going to get wild. Dick Cheney and David Rockefeller, the Rothschild boys and assorted sundry. The Donable Rumsfield's and Kissinger's and all the other party boys and girls are going to get a serious spanking. Do you really want to line up next to them? What did they ever do for you? That's the part that perplexes me. I guess you think they did something for you but if they did it was an accident - or you are part of the crew?

The game is up. This time the joke is going to be on them and the punch line is not funny. No, hold your calls… operators are not listening. Operators never listen. They just operate. The Calvary actually is coming but it's not the Calvary that many would expect. What was that famous scene in that spaghetti western? The troops arrive and are covered in dust so that they look like Confederates but the officer starts slapping his hat against his coat and the coat is blue? Oh yeah, welcome to real time TV

The Democratic and Republican Party Conventions have been the focal point of much of American media these days but why? Given that the media adheres to public want why do these fake forays that appeal to emotional faith, that ask for glamour and glitz to be the focal points, that rely not on understanding but on rage, tears and personal tastes mean so much to so many? The dichotomy of American politics is a meaningless split, but the underlying factions that clammer around the glamour and glitz is not meaningless: it defines the American social and political landscape. That is to say, we as a society become defined by whatever emotional plea wins out. The other side is no better. Their claim is based on what they define as "freedom" which has nothing to do with individuality or human dignity. They rage about the necessity of moral distinctions being based on an immoral and absolute system of laws that are both meaningless and detrimental, or about short-sighted capitalism defined not by free trade but by giving the good ol' boys the upper hand and disregarding the rest. Emotional pleas are pathetic enough but defining a country by emotionally charged factions is downright idiotic.
The Democrats: having become a listless bunch of duck-eyed, new-age altruists and psychologists see the world in terms of a new order that will never work. The party is no longer the invention of Thomas Jefferson and James Madison, individualism and rational thought, but has now been reinvented by "victims" and psychologists. Its "victims" inevitably include those that hold the belief that society owes them something, sorry-eyed with their hands out for a "". Angry special interest groups who cannot see that they are guilty of acting in the very way that they claim is unjust; to them retribution is never enough. Only revenge and total absolution can quench their selfish demands. "Victims" of all ilk rush into the wide-open democratic house passing the welcome arms of the glazed-eyed therapists who defend the moral of it with their meaningless claptrap. "We owe the poor and the downtrodden." goes their mantra while the basis of personal responsibility is eroded away. The Democratic Party is no more than the "something for nothing" politic which is both immoral and impossible. But it is this very attitude that those hazed and confused constituents adhere to: there has to be a way and it is "our" responsibility to help everyone no matter that cost, moral or economic.
The Republicans: mean-spirited, religious fanatics who prefer gated communities locking out undesirables and any real answers to the real problems of our society; hypocrites and thieves who have what they want and adhere to their own new world order defined their own selfish motivation: whatever helps them and theirs. Created out of anti-slave activists it now is defined by moral-slave adherents: the religious right and evangelicals of the Christian cult. The irony does not end there however. They promote brainwashing the nation, the idea that educating the public is simply another capital investment to be made by anyone who has enough money and Christian drive. Being over-run by multi-billionaires and corporate interests, it is in their best interest to keep the public ignorant and enslaved. The Republican Party is nothing more than a new American monarchy that preaches individual freedoms while defining those freedoms as a commodity that can be bought and sold by the highest bidder. money and religion run free in the Republican household because God sanctions the morality of the rich while condemning the poverty of the others. The new Republican is nothing more than a moronic call for religious morality coupled with corporate welfare and tax breaks for the rich.
The Democratic and Republican party is not the new politic in which America finds itself. The gash between the parties is evident but the no-man's land is not simply fine line: it is a large expanse filled with apathy and ignorance. The new politic is not defined by the emotionally charged and the blindly dogmatic as it would seem to be. Neither is the new politic defined by the mass of Americans: they don't even bother to vote. The new politic is a blind machine fueled by emotion and led by the lost. The new politic is no longer simply political, it is moral, it is personal, it is driven by the desires of each and every one of us and no one all at the same time. Because most of the public defines and accepts its morality by nothing more than tradition or by what it has been taught by either parents or politicians it is unconsciously willing to follow anything or anyone that it perceives to be an authority. It does not have the ability to critically analyze nor does it have the capacity to understand that it is being bamboozled which is why apathy is the only alternative. But apathy is no better than acceptance of anything over nothing.
There is no conspiracy here, other than that of the religious wish to overtake the world (one which is as old as religion itself). There are two machines at work here: selfish short-sighted desire and massive apathy. The new politic is a recipe for disaster because of these two systems. First, it is impossible to come to any universal moral ideal given that the motivation is a selfish one. By its very nature, morality is a compromise between freedom, law and understanding. Without law we are incapable of being free. Freedom, in terms of humanity, is not defined by the simple law of nature. Human freedom is defined by the protections that we create (laws) and the understanding that the freedom we desire is only accessible by accepting those laws. If we cannot understand these concepts we cannot follow the laws set forth and therefore cannot act in any moral fashion. We must first understand, then create, then accept. None of this is possible as long as the leaders of this nation turn to the extreme factions, as long as they bow before selfish and self-centered screamers of individual rights defined as whatever special interest the loudest mouth may have. None of this is possible as long as the mass of Americans are either too apathetic or too ignorant to bother get involved by thinking for themselves.
In order for a great concept such as the United States of America to work, individuals must first realize and accept that their personal problems are not the responsibility of the state or the nation. They must realize that simply because they "feel" that certain issues are of utmost importance does not mean that they are of utmost importance. Secondly, all of us need to realize that no authority can define how we ought to think or believe, unless we understand why we ought to think or believe. This is the crux of the religious as well as the political problem. Thirdly, we all need to realize the importance of self-responsibility and the poisonous nature of altruistic laws. We owe nothing to anyone, but we cannot expect to be owed anything simply on the basis of our existence. Finally without intellect we are lost. Without the ability and motivation to think critically about our own moral distinctions as well as that of others, we have only one law to fall back on: the law of nature. The new politic is full of posers and pedants. It is choking with personal fervor and self-importance. It is drowning in its own self-importance and a personal psychology that tries and fails to define any usable morality. The new politic is the new poison: the new drug, the new religion. It is something not to be scoffed at but watched as a prey watches a predator.

Denver – Former president Jimmy Carter's controversial views on Israel cost him a place on the podium at the Democratic Party convention in late August, senior Democratic operatives acknowledged to the Forward.

Breaking with the tradition of giving speech time to living former presidents, convention organizers honored Carter with only a short video clip highlighting his work with Hurricane Katrina victims and a brief walk across the Pepsi Center stage.

The sidelining of Carter was driven by recognition in the Obama camp and among Democratic leaders that giving the former president a prominent convention spot might alienate Jewish voters.

"What more could we do to diss Jimmy Carter?" said a Democratic official who was involved in deliberations on how to handle the former president's presence at the convention. The treatment Carter received, the official added, "reflects the bare minimum that could be done for a former president."

Although Carter says limiting his presence at the convention was his idea, denying him a speaking opportunity ends a two-year struggle for the party over how to deal with the controversial former president. Since Carter published a book in November 2006 accusing Israel of practicing apartheid against the Palestinians, Democrats have been trying to distance themselves from the former president and to convince Jewish activists that he does not represent the party line.

Carter's status at the convention was an issue for the Democratic leadership going back to the early preparation stages, a party official said. The solution to what one Democratic official referred to as "the Carter problem," however, was not found until the final run-up to the Denver convention.

Carter, according to party insiders, was initially scheduled to speak at the event, though organizers insisted he focus only on issues relating to domestic policy and not touch on foreign affairs. During his speech at the 2004 Democratic convention in Boston, Carter mentioned Israel, but he only touched in general terms on the need to bring peace to the region.

As the Denver convention drew near, organizers grew uneasy with the idea of having Carter speak even on domestic issues. In the end, the decision was made to have what the official convention schedule described as a "President Jimmy Carter segment," which included a video presentation of the former president's work in New Orleans. The video was followed by a brief appearance by Carter and former first lady Rosalynn Carter, who walked across the stage to the sound of Ray Charles's "Georgia on My Mind." The assembled delegates showered Carter with applause and a standing ovation.

Jewish Democrats approved of Carter's limited presence at the convention, as they have argued that embracing the former president could tarnish the party in November.

"You can't give him a podium, because people will draw the conclusion" that the Democratic Party supports Carter's views on the Middle East, said Rep. Jerrold Nadler of New York. "I wouldn't let him within 100 miles of the convention center, because it would be used by an unscrupulous Republican Party that doesn't care about the truth in character assassination against our candidate."

While Carter did come to Denver, he downplayed suggestions that he had been silenced.

In an August 26 interview with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Carter said that the idea not to speak at the convention was his own.

"Michelle spoke last night, Barack is going to speak Thursday night and the other two nights are for the Clintons," Carter said. "So, I didn't want to intrude…. I didn't need to get on the stage and make a speech."

Delegates from Carter's home state of Georgia did not seem to take much offense at the former president not being among the conventions'speakers.

"I didn't think much of it at all," delegate Freddie Mitchell said. "He has spoken at a number of these things in the past."

Among some of Jewish delegates to the convention, however, denying Carter a speech but offering him a video tribute was not nearly sanction enough.

"He hasn't shown respect to Israel and many of the Jewish constituencies here based on the things he has done," said Nan Rich, a Florida state senator who left the hall in protest before Carter's appearance onstage.

Although staunch critics of Carter may not have been won over by the Obama campaign's sidelining of the former president, at least one one Jewish Democratic official says the episode reflects the degree to which the presidential hopeful is concerned about shoring up Jewish support before November.

"I think it's hard to ask a political party to take a former president and say, 'We're not going to hear you at all,'" said Ira Forman, executive director of the National Jewish Democratic Council. "The party is very sensitive to the American Jewish community, and it's very sensitive to ever conveying that this is anything but a pro-Israel party."

And though Rich chose to protest Carter's inclusion, she was among the critics who appreciated the decision to minimize his role.

"It shows the party gets it and Barack Obama's campaign gets it," she said.

New information obtained by Bedfordshire on Sunday says the body of Dr David Kelly was not discovered despite the police helicopter flying directly over the spot where he was eventually found.

Dr Kelly was found dead in July 2003 at the height of the controversy over the Iraq invasion. There has never been an inquest but in 2004 the Hutton Inquiry declared his death a suicide.

Bedfordshire Police's helicopter was used in the Oxfordshire search for the missing scientist.

BoS used the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) to gain access to flight records.

These show that the helicopter flew directly over the spot where Dr Kelly's body was discovered, after he was supposedly already dead.

Heat-imaging equipment, used on both night flights, should have discovered Dr Kelly's corpse, which still had a temperature of 24 degrees centigrade when found.

Bedfordshire Police were unwilling to reveal precise details of the helicopter's imaging system but stated: "It can read a car number plate three-quarters of a mile away from a height of 1,000 feet."

Thames Valley Police's assistant chief constable told the Hutton Inquiry only that the helicopter searched 'around the area of Dr Kelly's house'.

The flight summary records: 'Area search included bridle paths from Longworth north to the River Thames east to Newbridge and back to Kingston Bagpuize.' The Longworth-Thames leg of this ten mile journey took the helicopter directly over Harrowdown Hill at 2.50am on July 18.

According to Hutton Dr Kelly's body had already been there for at least one hour and 35 minutes. Dr Kelly died after supposedly taking an overdose of tablets and cutting his wrist with a blunt knife. The post mortem found that Dr Kelly had died from loss of blood.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "There has been a thorough investigation into the death of Dr David Kelly and that investigation has been the subject of a major inquiry. Everything we have to say on the matter is fully documented and is a matter of public record. We have no further comment to make."

Lewes MP Norman Baker is an outspoken critic of the official version of Dr Kelly's death. He told Bedfordshire on Sunday: "This new information is significant. It indicates that the helicopter, equipped with heat-seeking technology, searched exactly the area where Dr Kelly's body was later discovered but found nothing."

This provokes a number of new questions about the circumstances of the death of the country's most eminent weapons inspector.

"The Government must now re-open the inquest into the death of Dr Kelly and set a date for a proper inquiry into the Iraq War."
