Organising and Planning . . .

A friend has asked me to help her organise and plan an event... a luncheon to be held to celebrate Women’s Day in South Africa on the 9th of August 2010.
She has tasked me with arranging the "entertainment" for the day... not the easiest part to arrange for any function!!!
She tells me that we are planning the event for about 150 women. The group will be multi-racial, multi-cultural and multi-lingual. Oh my goodness ~ where do I start? What kind of “entertainment” does she expect me to arrange? A comedienne? A choir or singing group? A professional speaker?
She then informed me that I have “free rein” with the entertainment arrangements and whatever I do, she will agree to ~ no questions asked...!!!
I wonder if she knows that, by doing that, my imagination immediately went into overdrive and I thought of arranging for a really “hot, tasty, tempting” tidbit of male torso for the ladies to enjoy... a real Chippendales-type experience... or something even more daring, perhaps???
Then the logistics entered the equation... How the hell do you sneak a group of half-naked, mouth-wateringly gorgeous men into the local church hall???
The answer : YOU DO NOT . . . ! ! !
I guess I will have to look to engaging the services of a group of singers to entertain us for an hour... and perhaps get a local radio personality to give the ladies a motivational talk...
But ~ then again ~ I am so sure that the ladies would much prefer being entertained by the men...
I guess I will really have to put in some thinking time and try and figure this one out...

I cannot believe that more than a year has passed since I last visited this page and posted something...
My life was running out of control... on the home-front, as well as at the office...!!! But that is, as the cliche goes, a whole different story...
Things seem to be back on track again, so I should be visiting here more frequently... adding my thoughts, dreams and aspirations for your enjoyment; and mine, too...!!!
In the meantime, let me leave you with this message :
Life is too short!
There is no point in trying to be perfect;
you will go crazy over nothing!
Make the most of what you have got
and appreciate it!
Dont be a wannabe;
be who you want to be!

More or Less... BBW...

Just calling myself BBW is weird... because I feel anything but beautiful... I do not like the fact that I am Big...!!!
And I can already hear a whole bunch of you saying : "So? What are you doing about it?"
Well - seeing as I have decided to make 2009 the year of living dangerously - I am determined to lose most, if not all, of the excess weight that I carry around with me...
I am going to follow a well-balanced, healthy, tasty eating plan... and I am going to try and exercise more... without putting any pressure on myself... just making a lifestyle change... and having a complete mind shift...
Forcing the issue is NOT going to make it happen any faster... and will probably slow the whole process down...
So - sense and sensibililty will be the order of the days ahead... and... NO MORE COMFORT FOOD...!!!
So... any ideas as to what I can do in the wee hours when sleep is so elusive and distant... ideas that will keep my mind off the slices of warm, buttery toast... ideas that will help me... really help me...???
To any of you out there also trying to climb this steep mountain... good luck... and know that you are NOT alone...

I guess I am not alone when I say that this time of the year a person tends to do a lot of remembering... the good as well as the not so good... and - like me - I guess a lot of us hope that we learn from the mistakes we made during the past year and that we go forward and try not to look back with any regrets...
I have been doing that quite a bit lately... and one of the things I realised is that the more we look back at past events in our lives... the slower we are in moving forward...
I guess what I am trying to say is that we must not forget the past... we must just try our best to keep our eyes focused on the road ahead and work towards a better future for ourselves...
After all... there is only one person who can make life good... and that person is yourself...
So... let's all keep looking forward... and marching forward... into a bright, happy, blessed, peaceful future...

Hi there!!
I am BlueLacey... with no special meaning attached to the name... I am not blue or sad or down or distressed... and I am by no means lacey or frilly or frivolous...
I recently re-joined NoStrings and look forward to many happy hours chatting, posting and blogging on the site.
A little about myself...
I am who I am...
And who I said I was...
I am the image of myself...
I AM ME !!!
I am married, with 2 daughters, aged 23 and 20. I work for a large financial institution as a Personal Assistant to the Head of the Business Unit and I am also the Office Administrator. My days are quite busy at the office and my early evenings are taken up doing the usual family and household things. Then I sit down in front of my computer and surf the 'net, go chatting, make posts in the groups or update my blogs. I use this as a way to unwind.
I love music and dancing and use this as a form of stress relief. My eldest and I often go clubbing together and I must admit that keeping up with the youngsters is quite hectic - but so much fun, too.
I enjoy being outdoors, especially somewhere where there is wildlife. My ideal holiday is one that is spent in a reserve of some kind where I can sit and watch the most magnificent of all African wildlife - the White Rhino.
My world... nothing remarkable... nothing spectacular... probably pretty routine and ordinary to most of you... but it is MY world... and I love it...
