has sprung and today we get graced with a mix of wet snow and rain. On the bright side, is it warmer out and the rain will cut into all the snow on the ground. And once spring arrives, it won't be too much longer before summer arrives, and with it women in shorter skirts and heels which in turn will lead to a spike in neck injuries

Thank you to all the sexy women out there who love to express themselves

Come on summertime!

knocked down is just an opportunity to get back up and try again. Life is full of learning opportunities, as long as we recognize them and turn them into positives. Each day brings us another chance to make a difference, make someone smile, and keep the past where it belongs .... in the past. If you keep looking behind you you might walk into ....

Stay pain free, look ahead to brighter days Who knows, today just might be your day

You got what it takes you can win

You got what it takes you can win,
Today is your day to begin.
Don't give up here, don't you quit.
The moment is now, this is it
Know that you can then you will
Get to the top of the hill
Part of the fun is the climb
You just gotta make up your mind

That today is your day
And nothing can stand in your way
Today is your day
Everything's goin' your way
Today (you can do it)
Today (c'mon c'mon)
Today (c'mon do it)
Today

When somebody throws sticks and stones
All they can break are your bones
And life's gonna kick you around
Then kick you again when you're down

But today is your day
And nothing can stand in your way
Today is your day
Everything's goin' your way
Today (c'mon do it now)
Today
Today
Today

mmmm life's gonna kick you, its gonna kick you around, its gonna kick you down

Brush yourself off no regrets
This is as good as it gets
Don't expect more or less
Just go out and give it your best (give it your best)

Today is your day
And nothing can stand in your way
Today is your day
Everything's goin' your way

Today
Today ( I said today is your day)
Today
Today
I said today
Today
Today is your day mmmmm

this is an adult site and yes sex is a major part of this site but what I think a lot of people, mostly men, seem to forget is that there are real people attached to most, but not all, profiles. Instead of sending someone a lewd email, or for those who appear to be illiterate, pics with no words, try treating them like a person and actually talk to them. Who knows, you might actually like the other person and want to get to know them. Of course the chances of those people actually reading this .... or actually reading for that matter, are somewhere between slim and none, but one never knows.
It might seem like common sense, which is really misnamed by the way, but if you respect yourself, shouldn't you respect the other person too?

are times when it is important to take the time to pamper yourself/put yourself first. Don't you deserve it? I've had a few people ask me why I would go on a road trip, stay the night and come back the next day, total driving time 8 hours. Why didn't you stay longer, there was a function that night in the city, aren't you going? Sometimes you just need to get away to clear the cobwebs out, even getting away for 30 hours. That was my Fri/Sat. Did I enjoy my trip, definitely; clear some cobwebs, more than I expected; regret anything, not at all.
I find that driving is a great way to sort things through that may be running around the hamster wheel in my head. Sometimes it feels like that little sucker is trying to break the sound barrier

Then I check the blogs I follow and someone posts just the thing to make better sense of some of the cobwebs, thank you for your, as always, wise words and the much needed shot in the arm.
Got home feeling great and then before I knew it I was out the door again, towards an even better experience, although I didn't know it going out the door. Sometimes putting yourself first is the exact right thing to do, it's emotionally, mentally, and physically important to you! It's like a hug from behind. You know the person is doing it because they want to and that should put a smile on your face.
Have a great week!

around Halifax this morning I was station surfing on the radio when I hear Casey Kasem's American Top 40 with Hall and Oates moving up 3 spots to 18 .......WTF??!! Turns out it's a station that only plays 70s, 80s and 90s music. I was lucky enough to have a Top 40 from the late 70s today. It's amazing how much your brain can dredge up from the back shelves. Songs I had not heard for years, or more, and I'm singing and bopping along with a smile on my face. I'm sure I got more than a few "what's that guy on?" looks but I was enjoying the moment. It goes to show the power of music to brighten up a rainy morning.
Hope something brightened up your day today

around in a different city changes, at least for me, how I look at people and things. The farther away from home I am the lesser the chance I will meet someone I know so I can immerse myself in my surroundings more. It's not that I want to avoid seeing people I know, but as a people watcher, I can relax and just observe. I get to explore the city as well, taking a wrong turn means going somewhere new, seeing something new.
Being in a city only 3.5 hours away [Halifax] does make me wonder though. What if that person walking towards me is someone I have chatted with before but we have never met? Adds a little bit of mystery to the whole experience ...and that's not a bad thing

had a love of books since high school finished. Funny how not having to read makes one want to read. Who says reverse psychology doesn't work!
It's not unusual for me to have a couple books on the go at one. One I take to work, and another when I am at home. Right now, being on vacation, I wanted something light to read so I picked this one up at the bookstore..

Now it won't win any grand prizes in the literary world but it is making me smile and nod my head in agreement frequently. It also occasionally throws a curve at you that actually makes you sit up and go
One that especially jumped out me was a comment made concerning Star Trek and how it was often used to "hold up a mirror to society and help us make sense of it .... a sociological examination of the human condition". What really struck me about that statement was three years ago I wrote a paper in university for an English class on how Science Fiction can be used as a platform for questioning societal norms/as a form of social protest.
I talked about Kirk and Uhuru's famous, or infamous depending on your perspective, kiss and how it was banned in many states and countries, for years after the original airing of the episode. Season Two of the new Battlestar Galatica depicting the human as freedom fighters vs. the cylons, blowing up their installations and ships, while the USA was involved in Iraq. Was that a protest against the Iraqi War?
But Star Trek brought us so many ground-breaking, and thought-provoking issues:

the aforementioned inter-racial kiss (Kirk kissing every female alien he comes across doesn't count),

black/white vs white/black,
a history of strong female characters, starting with Uhuru, Deanna Troi who was values for her smarts, not her looks, which were hot

Captain Janeway, known for her leadership and stare of death

and making borg sexy, 7 of 9

Star Trek consistently placed women in positions of authority before it was common in society. It showed women who were valued for their brains over their looks. It turned onto science and adventure and exploring new fields, letting them know it was cool to be smart before it was cool to be smart.
If any of you have read Bill Gates 11 things did not and will not learn in school you will already know #11, but for those of you who haven't, here is #11 - "Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one".

Smart is sexy

on a short road trip to pamper my car a wee bit. I could have had it done here in my city but I bought my car there (where I went), enjoy the service they provide, and my car is fun to drive. It was a bright, sunny day, it was only 50 mins one way, and sometimes a drive is a nice way to get away and think a bit.
Dropped my car off and walked up to the nearest Timmies to grab a h/c and a muffin (beats sitting at the car dealership). Had a great conversation with a young woman at Tim's, so much so that when the dealership called to let me know my car was ready I didn't want to leave. The time seemed to just fly by, with the conversation not having any of those pregnant pauses that can happen. Stayed an hour after the call telling me my car was ready but eventually had to go pick it up, but the conversation stuck with me on the drive home .... in a good way.
It doesn't happen very often that something like that happens and I thanked her for talking with me, as she will in all likely-hood never see this blog. Does this happen very often to you, time flying by with the conversation just flowing along, feeding off what the other person says?
The drive back was uneventful but it would have been cool if this had happened lol

a crisp, cool, if you can call -27c cool, morning, nothing feels nicer than going out for a brisk walk to get the blood flowing. There wasn't any wind so it actually was quite refreshing. Toleration of temperatures in all relative of course. I used to go to Oklahoma in late Jan or early Feb and would be walking around in shorts as it was in the high 60s, low 70s F. Got lots of funny looks and the question, "aren't you cold". Once I told them I was from Canada, I got the nods and ohs. (plus the odd, "oh, do you know so and so from Winnipeg?".
I loved how friendly the people were in Oklahoma, curious about Canada and my oddly coloured money, and I loved their accent. They found my accent funny. And I learned the plural form of y'all, which comes in handy if you are talking to a group
One of the many things I love about my home is the changing of the seasons. Yes it's winter, and yes in can get a wee bit chilly, but it makes you appreciate the wonders of nature. Snow can be a pain in the butt at times, but it also paints a beautiful landscape. Hope you are enjoying your view wherever you are.

I was in our regions chat room tonight when someone, who will remain nameless, starts shitting on me. But first a little background on this...

This person's significant other and I had been chatting and talking for quite a few weeks, with full knowledge of the other. The person I was talking to gave me some great advice and was very helpful in telling me what to expect at my first NoStrings party. Was supposed to meet both of them, for the first time, at said party. Unfortunately one got sick and they could not go. I was disappointed as I was looking forward to meeting them in person.

After the party I had some things come up that kept me very busy and as a result I didn't talk to them, or anyone else on NoStrings for 3 or 4 days. Life happens sometime. Sent the one I had been talking to a message telling them that I would be out there way in a few days and if they would still like to meet. The response I got was very hostile from the other half, saying that my failure to communicate for said period of time was inexcusable and they would be ubfriending me immediately, blocking me from their blog and advising me to not communicate with them in the future. I was very surprised, apologized for not communicating with them for said period, but would honour their wishes and wished them well.

Since then, the half I had not been talking to would occasionally view my profile or visit my blog. I recently banned them from my blog as a result. If they don't want me viewing theirs, why should they get to view mine?

Back to tonight. This other half calls me out in chat asking me why I keep viewing its profile (I say its, not in disrespect but to hide its gender).I pointed out that all it takes to create a profile view is for the mouse to hover over a profile for an instant. It calls me a little bitch to which I reply, "do you really want to air it here (in open chat)". Then he proceeds to say that it was defending its partner from a dangerous person/threat, me. Up til then I saw it as an attempt to bully me but insinuating that I would harm someone crosses the line big time. I would never raise my hand/harm someone except in self-defense or defense of family, friends, and those placed in my care. This ass has never met me, rarely talked with me and its lies cross the line. I know they have friends that read my blog, and they will probably pass on what I am writing here to it but I don't care.

Try to bully me and fabricate lies about me and I will stand up for myself. Threaten me all you want, you are wasting your time; try to bully me all you want, you are wasting your time; tell lies about me, it will come back on you.

I still have nothing but good things to say about your other half, not so much about you now. Obviously I am taking up space in your head. Does it bother you that you weren't in mine? Give it a rest and move on.
