Profile Double Standards?

One of my pet peeves are NoStrings members (many of the women in my case) that request new contacts write them using more than a few words or a single sentence. Their profiles say they want respect and will not respond to ‘dick pics’ or lecherous propositions.

For those of us who would like to contact them in a courteous way, we then spend our time composing a scholarly and respectful first contact message which contains several paragraphs. In closing our message, we kindly ask them for a response, a yay or nay would do. But instead we are ignored, they never reply, even a ‘go to hell ass@*#?%” would be an acceptable reply in lieu of nada!

We complied with their request, so why is there no response? Why post a specific communications standards requirement in your profile and ignore messages that conform?

I suspect that this “double standard” has caused some members to fall back to writing with less respect. Why should we take the extra time to write a good letter when you have us just spinning our wheels? I think, for some, not wanting a disrespectful message and not replying to a respectful one, is a self-fulling prophecy of continuing to receive what you say you didn’t want… disrespectful messages.

OK, I guess I’ve vented enough for now. I’m sure there are some out there that agree with me, and some that don’t. Feel free to post your take on this double standard.

National Girlfriends Day – A Tribute

Today is Girlfriends Day in the US and I for one am thankful for all the gorgeous ladies that make this site friendly for us guys! Yeah, sometimes we guys are not as respectful as we should be, but we are here because you ladies are here. You make this site a special place for us to visit and we look forward to spending time with our on-line girlfriends!

On this site we can interact with girlfriends from around the world. We can experience wonderful cultural differences. Our international girlfriends are as exotic and beautiful as our local girlfriends are. I wonder if countries other than the US celebrate a girlfriend’s day?

I ran across the following tribute and would like to share it:

August 1, 2018 - Girl power is in full effect!

In honor of National Girlfriends Day, women across the world are now calling all mentors, world changers, those who persevered, triumphed, and paved the way. And we must not forget to show our love for our ‘best-est’ BFF girlfriends today.

Make today special. Share a kind word or gesture. Be thankful for your “best friend, girlfriend”, circle of trust friends, and special connections. Call, send a text, an Instagram, a Snapchat, an email; power up Skype to commemorate today’s special event. Let this be a new day of new beginnings. Make new friends. Relinquish grudges, bitterness, or resentment.

Make godly connections. Share with others one of your favorite expressions. You don’t know how much it will mean in the life of someone who may be hurting or going through difficult times. Send virtual hugs. Make a difference. Live in the overflow of God’s love. Let your light shine through!

Happy National Girlfriends Day!

PS – Ladies, please get ready for October 3rd lol!

Funny 25 Songs of 2016

I’m a music lover and have some type of music playing all the time. I love almost everything, from rock to classical to hip-hop! I also love comedy music. Dr Demento has always served up the best of comedy music for me; including some pretty sexy stuff, I might add (one of my favorites “Boobs-A-Lot”).

I started listening to his radio show in LA on KMET many years ago. I followed him to several other radio stations in LA, and now I follow him on-line.

He just released his “Funny 25” for 2016! The top ten are:

#10 Ghostbusted - Anthony "A-Log" LoGatto
#9 If I Was President - Frank Zappa
#8 Donald Trump's Hair - Kacey Jones
#7 Weird Al Country Medley - Steve Goodie
#6 I'm Vambre Warrior - the great Luke Ski f/ Carrie Dahlby
#5 Leia (and other assorted Star Wars parodies) - Power Salad
#4 1,000 FuMPs - The FuMP
#3 When Trump Was A Lad - Michael Stein
#2 I'm Gonna Be Offended - Timm McCoy
#1 Dick Heads - Steve Goodie

See the full list on Dr Demento's website
