Truth about your age

why lie about your age? especially when its painfully obvious when you message a recent picture....
I only like larger age gaps older or younger
I don't feel my age
I'm hiding from my identity
i'm having a midlife crisis
i'm not going to meet up so i don't really care

I selected "I don't feel my age" because that is true, BUT your poll presumes we are lying about our age, which in my case I am NOT.

I once dated a lady from here that did lie about her age - she made herself older than she really was, because older men were her "thing".

Yes, I was asking those who actually do lie about their age to share their own reasons. I have my own assumptions, clearly, so I was curious if people would say more or change my thoughts. I appreciate when people are more upfront! Thanks for your commments

In this profile, its obviouos I'm not my stated age. In others, its only off by one or two years to intentional obfuscate my identity not only on the intenet (a digital world) but specifically on this site.

What I enjoy and/or do on my own personal time is none of the worlds business (for one). Further, I'm not some hourly paid worker that doesn't care what the world sees and/or thinks because they have nothing to risk.

Despite certain conventional wisdom's on privacy, social media to c level employees (if anyone expects to get there) has ramifications (as they should). Old adages like "don't air your dirty laundry in public" and "keep your personal information close to the vest" are still valid and sound advice.

That said, if you ask, I tell - but only in confidence and with escalating trust in someone.

The latter appears to address your original question. Seriously, if you (man or woman) find this out after/at the point of meeting in person, you turn around and go home. There are no exceptions because there is an obvious absence of trust and honesty.

well, yes, I suppose obvious because most people don't live to be 107, but how would we really know since you don't have a profile pic? I'm not really concerned with those that are a year or 2 off, as that doesn't really make a difference, and I can completely understand being anonymous. Its the 5-15 year differences that I find disturbing, when they want to meet up. Thanks for your comments.

I don't lie about my age but do understand if one fudges one or two years either way for identity protection.
Funny thing about lying about ones age is I have seen many a woman's pic (I don't check out men) where they look older than stated so obviously lying lived some very hard mileage.

If you see me in the real world, come say "Hi Justskin."

I always behave. Preferably not well.

Oh, I'm sure women do it to, I wasn't excluding them. People can surely agree at different places, but I've just had many that when asked, they do tell me an age that is not within 2 years of what is on their profile. Thanks for chiming in!

I don't feel or act my age. I'm to young to feel the age that is posted. Which, BTW, is deadly accurate. Truth in advertising, and yes, it has cost me dates. Sooo many don't want even 10 years older than them. LOL

Advertising lol rarely gives truths in the media world, made me laugh. Thanks for sharing

I don't lie about my age anymore. Meaning I used to, but only by two years for identity protection like one fellow said. That being said, I don't act my age and feel as though I was born into the wrong generation. I honestly wish I was part of Gen X or the Baby Boomers.

CaIrishMermaid replies on 6/14/2020 9:38 am:
Thanks for commenting, and not lying about your age anymore lol I get the 2 years, all good.

I don't lie about my age
but I guess most of the people do it because they believe they belond to a different generation or perhaps it's about fantasies

CaIrishMermaid replies on 6/15/2020 4:18 pm:
