 It was George Carlin who did a comic bit about ageing and getting older. George had the ability to take something as common place as a birthday and making funny some how. Like on your birthday, when you turn a year older, does that mean you stopped being the age you were previously? He pointed out that just because we turn one age doesn't negate the fact that we're still the age we were before our birthday arrived. I can't do the bit justice, But today the bit hits home with me. It's my Birthday you see. ( thanks in advance for the well wishes ) The thing is I don't feel any older, my body may protests but I still feel like I'm the same age I was yesterday as I am today. Often times I still feel like I'm that twenty something guy ready to face life on my own and make my way in the world. Though, if I had a chance to talk to that guy.... knowing what I know now, I'd clue the fellow in on a thing, or two.

Through out my life I've looked at my life ( existence ) like the passing of one year. The cold snowy months of January/ February being when I was just a small child, the Spring growing into my teen years, the early summer months my life as a young adult..you see where I'm coming from right? It looks as though I'm entering the Fall now... I know winter is coming again. And at the risk of sounding like an old guy " I can feel it in my bones " . Does the prospect of aging scare me? Not really, as the song says For every age there is a season...and we all know the seasons turn. That's how life works.

I may have grown a year older today, but as George pointed out, I'm still that kid playing on the playground under the watchful eye of my older sister, still the man of twenty who parties with his friends on weekends, still the dad and husband who worries about his family and if he'll do the right things to make their lives happier. I'm still the same guy I was yesterday, and will be the same tomorrow as well. I am after all I'm still me. The passing of a year hasn't changed me it's just given me a new number to work with.
