Absolutely NOTHING makes sense about this. Government handling, people, what is and isn't "essential". Enough to make one insane! And we can't even get together for sex! lol

I've been reading about masks too. What I found is not very encouraging. apparently surgical masks are three times more effective than any other (especially home made). Worse, many of the home made variety are only 2% effective. In other words, going without is just about as safe. I still wear a mask though...

The "rules" are driven by panic, not logic - even though the politicians piously tell us they are based on "scientific" data. People are not allowed to buy flower seeds or garden hoses in Michigan. To sit in cars in Louisiana church parking lots and listen to church services will result in a $500 fine for each occupant in every car. Cities keep small businesses closed but owners still must pay business license fees. Here in southern California, if caught solo paddle boarding the local harbor patrol will fine you and confiscate the board (but not the paddle). It's ok to surf in Hawaii but not ok to be on the beach...

I hope you are well.

Wearing a mask MAY stop you spreading the virus but scientists say they have little effect in protecting you, further more they get damp and attract spores.
There is also evidence that they make one more aware of ones face and more likely to touch it, so all in all it is a toss up whether they are a good idea or not.

it's a shame that our leadership don't really believe in the virus and people watch and do  what they see them do witch i'm very surprised  they haven't taken any Lysol and drank any Clorox oh wait.. my mistake  there is a report of someone trying it and they claim if it's good enough for the president i can take it. stupidity don't you think , people know more than the doctors don't want listen, so they don't believe there is a virus........

This is how misinformation spreads.
I live in Michigan - there was never a ban on buying flower seeds or garden hoses. All you had to do was order on-line or call the store and have them delivered or curbside pick-up. Or they could get those things at the local (and smaller) hardware stores. But when the nice weather (finally) came, people were strolling around the garden section of big stores - no masks, no social distancing - just lollygagging in the aisles, putting others at risk. So the Governor closed those sections for a while and only in the big box stores like Walmart and Home Depot. They have been re-opened.

Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation bangs on the door forever!

Unless you have the N95 mask...most aren’t that effective. The reason you should wear some type of mouth covering is to keep your germs to yourself. The government feels if everyone has one on then a less chance to spread through two masks.

To answer your other question...I feel why should the government decide who stay open and who should close? I think most of the businesses that’s are closed are the ones that don’t make that much in taxes for them?? What government worker has been laid off? What liquor or package store was forced close? Somehow you can still play the lottery...government’s only way to keep taking money from the poor.

We are not a communist nation. Our country was founded on freedom. We have the right to assemble. We get to choose....maybe we shouldn’t drive vehicles because of all the deaths that occur in auto accidents????

I have to feel that those that are not using a mask when in the presence of other people are risking us- not themselves BUT they are also exhibiting and " I am invincible" characteristics that I find appalling. They refuse to educate themselves about what this virus can do. I wear a mask as I do not know if I am an asymmtomatic carrier. Folks need to open their brains- 10 minutes will do it

PS: Our state dental professional membership have all decided no dentist is going to open and a few are doing emergency work only by prior phone call to get an appointment. I dont want one in my face with my open mouth and my spittle perhaps endangering them as they work on me. Have to stop the spread

It has already been mentioned that masks r not very effective and besides have u noticed that so many people r not wearing them correctly!
They r sloppy homemade, loose fit, they r hanging around their neck, they don't have their nose covered and so on! Most employees don't even wear them!!!!!
Employees wear rubber gloves. but never change them, after a few hours they r not even protecting them.
Just say'n !

Masks are not comfortable and make a person more likely to touch it. There are specific ways to put on and remove medical masks - most people can't or won't do that. Also, half the people I see wearing a mask do not have it on correctly.

When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro.

The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

.....seeing the same percentage of wearers and non-wearers everywhere.... time will tell what happens to the broad population.... for each of the individuals that contract the disease, best wishes for a safe outcome....

Because all of the panic is over-hyped media BS. Are we going to do this every flu season? The numbers for Covid are comparable to a bad seasonal flu WITH a vaccine available. All of the fear, masks, etc are completely ridiculous

...with all the mayhem on the streets of many major cities, we will find out soon enough.... the self isolation cat is out of the bag.... now we will just have to wait for the results to come rolling in....

Very good point Spankme ( love the name by the way )
We've a supermarket chain in England called Tesco. They've stopped the one way system last week, people were ignoring it, and there's signs advising about masks ( which will be compulsory thank heavens, next week ) I wear mine. Not one single other customer wore theirs. About 50 of them. It's like ' not a rule yet, I don't have to bother til then' I am embarrassed and disgusted by a lot of my populations ignorance and everyone for themselves attitude. It's just 'Im alright jack' for far too many.

And masks are basically there to prevent the wearer spreading it, not prevent you from catching it. If everyone wore one, all's tickityboo. So the peeps who don't wear one don't give a damn whether they spread it or not. Shame on them.

Sorry, tickety-boo. English phrase, originated from Hindi language, brought to England through our occupation there in 1930's. Means 'all fine and well.' Quite common in England.

I wear a mask while in public places. I don't if I know people I'm with. But carry if needed.
