Dwindling benefits from AFF

We have been members of this site for a long time. At various points we have paid and ultimately a number of years ago we downgraded to a free account. Using this site as a free member has been an interesting experience given the steady trend of removing and limited a free users abilities. We understand that NoStrings is a business and ultimately needs revenue and to make a profit.

When we downgraded we knew we would not have the same abilities as a paying member and that is completely understandable. The free to silver to gold abilities were staggered to enable more IMs initiated, Messages sent and Profiles viewed in a day based on your level of membership. This is a common pay site structure and one that makes sense. Free users could experience the a limited amount of all the features. The best part of the old structure is both free and pay users could make real connections. Users making and establish connections are what the site was all about. That is rapidly changing and its becoming much more difficult to make a real connection.

The largest hit to a free user was the limitation to only initiate 3 IM conversations per day. In another iteration limiting free users the IM feature was further restricted to have you upgrade to Gold or use points to even accept an IM conversation from another user after your daily three have been used. The more formal messaging feature previously allowed a free user to read and reply to messages received, however that has been changed to a blurred out message with a dialog box saying gold members get unlimited messages and a link to upgrade. The ability to flirt previously could be done as a free user, but that has also been removed from a free user offering to pay $1 to send the flirt.

The overall impact of the steady cycle of removing free members access to sites features is significantly reducing the ability for paying and non-paying members to find connections on the site. I've been talking with some friends that we've made from using this site over the years. All of the women are gold member with both single and bi orientations. All how very difficult it's become to find and connect with partners. Years ago they had no shortage of viable candidates and were able to make connections in real life. The limitations are negatively impacting the experience for all users and the benefits of NoStrings have rapidly dwindling.
