I am not sure what state the cowboy originated from but I do love country music. However I will admit that there is a certain amount of country music a person can listen to before he or she becomes overloaded by it. For example, the other night I feel asleep really early because I was very tired. I forgot to turn the country music I had been listening to on my computer off and it played all night, a full 10 hours. In the morning I woke to the crazy thing. I was no longer wearing the pair of boxer briefs I went to sleep in. Instead I was wearing nothing but a pair of ass-less chaps, cowboy boots and a cowboy hat. I was like "WTF" because I didn't even own a pair of those things before I went to sleep.

Cowboys come from Texas. They used to herd cattle up to the railheads up north. As the railroads expanded, they became obsolete.

Cowboys came up on the territories before there were states.
The poster who claimed Mexico was accurate in that cattle were herded in that part of the continent before there were formal borders.
Texas comes next, and the only remaining true cowboys left are in Wyoming.
