I can see where Paul thinks of Alice Walker’s quote being less than hopeful. My take is that it is less a statement of finality but a call to arms. Yes the world is being ruined by people who have too much power and not a care towards their fellow beings. But by mentioning this notion does it not make sense to want to change the circumstances? Just a contrarian notion in play. The first quote makes me realize where the now oft used mantra by Spider-Man has its origins:”With great power comes great responsibility” Certainly a more positive spin on a similar idea. And a more famous phrase was written by Lord Acton: "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men..."... interesting, no? We can refer back to the ancient Greeks for discussions about power, abuse, and corruption. Certainly not a new topic, meaning it hasn't had an easy solution.

some people will always suck the life out of things, the more powerful the person, the more life they consume........but others will always breathe new life back into the world.......we can all do our bit, that's our greater power. Just like you're doing your bit McT!
