Wasps Nest Fact ... :)
Wasps Nest Fact ... :) So, a few weeks ago, at work, we discovered a HUGE wasps nest above one of the trees in the front yard. Having been watering the rosebush under it every day thruout the summer, surprised never disturbed their habitat = got stung ... Curious know how they make their homes, looked it up. After gathering up scrapings of wood, they chew them mix the fibers with their spit, which creates this paper-like substance. The Queen locates a spot for them and spits it all out. Then, they shape it, giving them a new dwelling ... get it down, one uses these chemicals which turns the nest into paper and they are then able to knock it down ... Thank you to our friend - learned a new fact! *EDIT - apparently, it's a hornets diggs and not a wasps. Thank you! In Luv, Lite, Laffter ... |

A few years ago, one had been built in the tree on the boulevard (the grassy area between the sidewalk and the road) of my property. The tree is the responsibility of the city but cutting the grass was my responsibility, Calling the city was frustrating as I got passed around from one department to another with none taking responsibility to deal with it. Eventually, a neighbour took pity, sprayed it, waited 2 days and then knocked it down, bagged it and put in the garbage.

Be careful because sometimes here in the Fall they get more aggressive.

Yikes my friend that's not good, and now we also have to be on the look out for those DEADLY HORNETS they are on the upper west coast. They kill the honey bees and they are very deadly. I am so glad you never got stung, and thanks for sharing this important information with us. I hope you enjoy your Tuesday..
