Are You Ready...

For Mondays presidential debate?

9:00-10:30 Eastern time 26 September.

How well do you think Trump is going to do without the teleprompters he has been relying on lately?

Will he throw any insults? Call any names?

Will he actually make any sense with any of his answers? Or will he ramble and not really answer? Or give answers that don't really mean anything or are impossible?

Will he say things like he is going to rebuild or build up the military, you know the one he dodged serving in? The one that is doing perfectly well. I remember other people who dumped lots of money into the military, Reagan, Bush and I remember what it cost the country. Huge debt. Now I'm certainly not saying to neglect the military having been in the Air Force I'm a supporter of our military and the people in it. I believe in paying them well and educating them. I don't believe in wasting Huge sums of money on weapons system that really aren't needed but I do think it is wise to keep innovating and staying in the lead. But there is a time to invest and a time to save. I wonder how many billions were dumped into a world wide, including inside the US surveillance system that hasn't really produced much of anything? I wonder how much of that national debt we owe to China is because of wasteful spending on the military or NSA etc. Oh by the way he said to cut the defense budget and the entire EPA and the dept. of education just last Oct 2015

Will Trump be vocal about his desire to open up the legal system to libel suits for every time he feels someone said something bad about him, true or not? I mean who really needs freedom of speech anyhow and freedom of the press should certainly be under the leaders control shouldn't it?

Will there be more smoke and mirrors... claiming Hillary started the birther movement and HE finished it? By the way what every happened to that 5 million dollar charity pledge he made regarding the proof of citizenship of Obama? I haven't heard of any charities receiving anything have you? Perhaps he is waiting to get into office and issue a check from the treasury dept.

I think it should be an entertaining debate, but there is nothing Trump could say or do to change his long history that clearly shows who he really is, so I will be voting for Hillary even though I don't really like her.

Tickles, I'm not sure I can bear to watch it. Trump, with the collusion of every major cable news channel, has turned this election into a clown show and made me ashamed of many of my countrymen. Politics is a dirty business but this cycle has been nothing short of surreal. This is collective madness on an unprecedented scale.

I'm with you there. What I wonder is what will the next election be like? You know how things like this tend to build up. Well it worked for the last election so lets take it a little further this year! We have way to many nutty buddies out there as it is to say it is okay to have them running for president by actually voting for them. But maybe it is more a case of nuts voting for nuts in which case we are in deep shit. Entertainment is entertainment and money is money and the world keeps on spinning around and around.

    Quoting freenez14u2:
Well it's clear on who's side you will be cheering from. Althought not a Trump fan like tongues we all have one. Allow me to wag mine in response.

How about Hillary? How does she persuade us she's the one with a track record of disaster. Sticking her nose in as First Lady, now taking the opposite side now. As First Lady all I ever seen was her dancing and drinking all over the world, thank God the foundation now covers those costs. A under 10% direct relief rate, what a joke. The Red Cross nears 90.

When she did take control Via Lybia wow that turned out great! Not so much for four fellow Americans.

Thirty plus years of free rent, free food, free insurance, free medical, free assistants, free vacations, butler and maid service etc. etc. etc. plus a good salary all along and they left the White House broke. Shit she can't run a household let alone our country!

Let's not start on the lies! I landed under sniper fire, we ran for our lives! Too bad somebody was filming, but the nine year old girl handing her flowers look questionable. So many lies I'd question if she told me the sun will rise in the morning.

But I know the right wing has always been after her/them. Way back starting as Goverenor when it was thought Billie was bringing in drugs, sound odd but so many flight south of the border down Mexico way as the sing rings. I thought he was into Big Macs back then, not tacos. White Water, Hillary's 100% right choice in stock futures. No wonder Wall Street woos her. Hell I could go on forever...

Sure Trump want to keep his taxes under wraps, I'm sure he paid little to nothing. But to me that's a good thing, he's smart enough to know the rules. He also knows that they're wrong and has said his friends won't like it if he wins. I assume he'll change those rules. What upsets me more is to find out GE paid no taxes WTF.

Worse then the two of them is today's press, which I point to the Clintons. When Bill was in office the only was to protect him was to outright lie! That line once taken is far easier to do over and over again. And is in full bloom now. Even when it's found out and shown daylight, then they say yeah but our point we made was worth a lie. I disagree with that 100% and I'm sadden that many of us are not awear of this and they take their lies as fact.

I think Trump got in for two reasons first to have fun and second if he won that would save him millions in security over his lifetime. But I think going around the country and meet the good American people he really wants to help now. Maybe shame on me but I'll role the dice on the devil I don't know this time.
I'm interested in this conversation.
I find what you wrote to be exactly what Trump's side and the conservatives have been saying for years. I would love to address a few of these points.
(BTW I voted for Bernie in the primaries and I think about these things, write on politics, studied politics as a hobby in the last 30 years, and in my first election I voted for Anderson against Reagon).

You: How about Hillary? How does she persuade us she's the one with a track record of disaster. Sticking her nose in as First Lady, now taking the opposite side now. As First Lady all I ever seen was her dancing and drinking all over the world, thank God the foundation now covers those costs. A under 10% direct relief rate, what a joke. The Red Cross nears 90.

Me: She was given the task of trying to reform health care. That is not quite the same thing as "sticking her nose in". From the great presidents like Roosevelt with Eleanor at his side, to Nancy at Ronald's side, to Barbara at George H.W.'s side, there have always been ambitious first ladies who have affected their husband's views on policy. In this regard, Hillary is no different than those other first ladies, EXCEPT she was also a senator for New York and then Secretary of State. Presidents must work with all sides and try to convince all of their own party and then some of the other party to work together to pass legislation. In this department, she has the connections. She understands how to build coalitions and she understands that if one senator or a group of representatives cross the aisle, then they will expect some favor later on. In studying the history on our government and big decisions that changed the direction of our country, this has happened all the way back at the beginning of our country amongst the forefathers, through the civil war with Lincoln, to last year with Obama's administration. Part of being in the first family is going around the world and making connections with other world leaders. "Drinking and dancing around the world" is the only thing the press report on. What happens inter-personally between those other first ladies and families is what builds friendships between the countries, and that does NOT get reported in the press.

YOU: When she did take control Via Lybia (sic) wow that turned out great! Not so much for four fellow Americans.

ME: Under every president there have been deaths that have occurred in our diplomatic corps. That is the chance that ambassadors and their families take when they go on assignment. The actual family of the ambassador that was killed in Benghazzi does not blame Hillary, so I think they had the most to lose, right? Under George W. Bush, there were 39 incidents where at least one person died and a total of 87 deaths. Now I don't blame Condoleeza Rice or Colin Powell for all of those deaths, and I don't think that any of the at least 7 investigations, led by Republicans were able to pin the blame on Hillary. The results of the FBI, the Senate Select committee on Intelligence, the five house committees and so on, all state that the blame is on the Obama administration but not Hillary Clinton.

YOU:
Thirty plus years of free rent, free food, free insurance, free medical, free assistants, free vacations, butler and maid service etc. etc. etc. plus a good salary all along and they left the White House broke. Shit she can't run a household let alone our country!

ME: When Clinton left office there was a surplus in the budget paying down the deficit, that W. Bush famously rescinded and paid out to the American Tax Payer, thus increasing the deficit instead of continuing to pay it down. They did not leave the White House broke. When they left, they were in debt because of the attorney expenses on the years long defense they had to pay on the White Water investigations that ended with only the President being found guilty of lying about having sex in the Oval Office with another adult woman other than his wife. That was a waste of money, precipitated by vengeful Republicans. Many of whom we have now found out had their own mistresses that they lied about while persecuting Bill Clinton during the investigation.

I could go on and on. I do not discount your opinion. I simply counter it with facts that are easily searchable. An opinion can be formed by facts, personal experience (such as your own), and listening to one's peers and colleagues. I would prefer to form my opinion on the facts and not just one media report, or one side versus the other.

Good debate. I am looking forward to Monday's debate. I apologize if it looks like we highjacked your post comments section.

I expect that Hillary will be heavily medicated by a slew of doctors for all of her undisclosed medical issues.

Electioneering is now a matter discrediting your opponents rather than promoting your policies.
Same in UK.

Trust in your feelings.

One more hurdle along the way of this national nightmare.

I see that CNN is hosting. .. I don't have cable. Does this mean that I will have to catch it one sound-bite at a time.

Read my diary Journal of a Taxi Driver for taxi stories and pictures of flowers and trees.

From reports here, it's Hillary Clinton who needs to raise her game.

There is an interesting website "ontheissues.org" that has lots of quotes from the various candidates.
