"If I told her that I loved you... You'd maybe, think there's something wrong..."
"If I told her that I loved you... You'd maybe, think there's something wrong..." "If I told her that I loved you... You'd maybe, think there's something wrong..." Now, if these words don't mean that there is something wrong... there must be something wrong... unless, it is his mother that he is telling... Perhaps, it was his lover... the one that used to be the one... the one that he had shared many intimate moments with... but, were they really that intimate... were they really that special... was he thinking of you when he was pleasing her... I've always loved this song... It is my fav of all-time songs by Sting... today, I went thru many current songs and was going to post one... something to dazzle... something to impress... but... then... I came back to this one... a special set of lyrics... sometimes we take things for granted... we don't say "I luv u" as much as we should.... we don't recognize the small things in life... we move too fast... we don't stop to smell the roses... with these lyrics... one sees the focus of a person... not intent on making money... no gambling... no dreaming... just the perfect art of reading... of seeing the signs... those that are all around us... a hint of perfume there... a phrase said in the heat of passion... a laugh that makes the silence disappear... the reassuring touch or the flick of her hair... towards the end, however... we see the shape of his heart... we see what he was thinking about while dealing the cards... so... was he in turmoil... was he torn... he does come out with it... please give them a read... "He deals the cards as a meditation And those he plays never suspect He doesn't play for the money he wins He don't play for respect He deals the cards to find the answer The sacred geometry of chance The hidden law of a probable outcome The numbers lead a dance I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier I know that the clubs are weapons of war I know that diamonds mean money for this art But that's not the shape of my heart He may play the jack of diamonds He may lay the queen of spades He may conceal a king in his hand While the memory of it fades I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier I know that the clubs are weapons of war I know that diamonds mean money for this art But that's not the shape of my heart That's not the shape The shape of my heart If I told her that I loved you You'd maybe think there's something wrong I'm not a man of too many faces The mask I wear is one But those who speak know nothing And find out to their cost Like those who curse their luck in too many places And those who fear are lost I know that the spades are the swords of a soldier I know that the clubs are weapons of war I know that diamonds mean money for this art But that's not the shape of my heart That's not the shape of my heart That's not the shape The shape of my heart…" -- Sting - "The Shape of my Heart" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ has this ever happened to you my little pretties... being on one side or the other... Wow Easy. That is a beautiful, heartfelt song. And my sense is it has much deeper meaning and relevance for you based on experiences you have shared with your loyal readers. I agree, we don't say 'I love you' often enough. It can be said and meant in many different situations. For example, I have a close, female friend whom I have know over 25 years, who I recently helped through a serious illness. Lately, whenever we are together, instead of saying, 'goodbye', she says, 'I love you'. p.s. Happy 4th of July
