So I bought this.....
So I bought this..... I've worked for my employer for 29 years. I can retire in 4 years ( yes I am counting down). I have benefits and with universal health care everything I need is all or mostly covered and that will continue until I pass on. I am though always conscious of what I spend being a single income parent. My job is active, it requires lots of driving, in out of vehicles, traipsing up and down stairs, ladders, and rough terrain. I have always tried to remain fairly fit, and balance my love of food. I still skate, walk the dogs and have on and off again gym memberships. I am finding though my body is starting to have more aches and pains. Repetitive strain is setting in and I dont seem to be able to recover as easily. I have gone for physio and to the chiro and while it helps the share I pay adds up over time. I am currently dealing with a pinch sciatic nerve and am doing all the stretching to relieve it but the pain is not fun. I dont tolerate or take any pain meds. I have taken a Tylenol here and there and have tried muscle relaxants. The other day I invested in a Tens machine ($114). Both my physio guy and my chiro guy have used these machine on me and they have helped. For those who arent aware it uses electric stimulation to alleviate pain and promote healing through improved circulation. This machine has been wonderful has been great, well worth the money spent. What's even better lying there for the treatment, I am able to part take in some self love... WIn/Win |

It sucks to hear you're hurting I hope that works good for you. There is a pain reliever called Arnica. It is a natural type of remedy and it comes in cream and pill form. When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

I have one of those, it's OK, but I prefer this Eucalyptus Oil, it's $40 for an 8oz bottle, but it really works. After I put it on my lower back about 3 times that nerve just goes to sleep. [image]

Hope it helps you . nerve pain is the worst. Have you tried yoga? I hurt my back a few years back. Doctor wanted to operate. Instead, I started a rehab, and was introduced to yoga. Light stuff. I still do some of it, including swapping between a Cobra and Child's pose. Back has never given me any more problems and no pain whatsoever. Might want to wait till the nerve pain subsides though. I'm not an expert , so I would suggest you decide what's best for you. " I refuse to belong to any organization that would accept me as a member" Groucho Marx

Sorry to hear that Tanante, I am sure that is not only annoying but painful especially if you are in a vehicle for an extended amount of time. I assume this is the infamous Dr. Ho machine? lol No pun intended. Like plato above I wonder if yoga would be of any use. Hope you overcome it naughty!! xox

I think TENS units are great. Even a cheaper one can be worthwhile. "Age cannot wither her, nor custom stale her infinite variety" Shakespeare

That's great hun that you got that Ten's machine as they do work very good to help out the sciatic nerve pain I am told. You know we do feel more pain the older we get and I have found that walking is the easiest way to alleviate it when we can't do the exercises like we used to do. I hope your day is a good one and your weekend is even better.

I know a few people that have had the electrodes inserted into their bodies...I understand what you are feeling, I was an Iron Worker and a bit older than you. I have experienced sciatic pain twice before...quite debilitating it can be ,,,maybe the "Williams stretches" will help you "https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Williams_Flexion_Exercises#Other_sources" I was told by one of my therapist that air born troops do these to alleviate back pain issues,,,I so these too,,,had L5 fused to S1 in 2016...a few of these moves help me. Heat and Ice ,,analogistic creams and a wrap to start the day and ice to end it with some kind of anti inflammation med worked for me. good luck also try an inversion machine...stretching the joints of the spine help too.
