"You holding up a slot"!

Retire, you been here 100 years! You paid your dues, let someone else get a shot! Is it worth 3 more years of work for an extra $200 a month? I have a friend that been with the company 45years this year, and get hire at the age of 22. He's almost 67. He's holding up a slot for another 22 year old. My friend is debt free, his wife already retired, and all his moved out, years ago. There another person at work, he's 66. He's getting a retirement from another company, full social security, and working full time.

I asked, him, "What the hell you still here"? He told me "I'm a cheap of a bitch"! He also said. "I love money and I don't do shit"!I agree, he's not worth a shit. So you go to college, get your degree, apply for a job. You can't get the job, because some idiot don't want to leave. This is all over the United States, thousands of companies got tons of people that could retire, don't! If you get another job and wait for that position to open, you might be waiting a long time!

If you tell them "You holding up a slot", you'll get in trouble. There was an engineer, he was 70 years old. His work declined in the last 5 years, he messed up so many job, so they didn't give him any work. They couldn't fired him, because of age discrimination. So the company couldn't fill his slot. They were only allowed a certain amount of slots. I asked him, why not retire? He said, I have a wife that 25 years younger, that told me if I lose my job, she would divorce me, she spends all my money, and she don't love me. So I asked him, So you a "Sugar daddy"? He said, I guess so. He said, I Love a woman who can't stand me. WOW!

Poor guy, he said, he would fight to stay! Every two years, the organization evaluated the jobs to justify if they can eliminate a job or if they need to add another position. So the way they got rid of him was to eliminate his job. He had 30 days to find another job or he was out the door. So after 30 days, he finally retired. he had to talk to the boss, before he retired. I can imagine what the boss said to him. I bet it went like this. "it was time for you to go, besides "You was holding up a slot"!

It's hard to tell someone to leave, but in the blogs there were two that was financially secure, and they had people waiting for their slots. Companies can be chicken-shit and not fill their slot, I been in them organization too. I know if someone haven't got their fiances together , they stay longer. It's a scary thing! I would hope I will, when the times comes. Only we all can do it to prepared ahead of time for when it comes, so if the worst happens we'll be OK.

I had a friend who worked for 40 years and after 35 years of service he wasn't really getting anything for the next 5 year except spending cash. All I can tell ...you will know when your ready to retired. Something will say time to go! No one can tell you if you should go or not. Not really fair to push someone out the door. I am sure that is what was said to this guy. A lot of organization do that get rid of you and force you out the door. When you do retire most of the time they don't replace you at all.
A very interesting post. Scoupe. hugssss V

Sandy, you got a good head on your shoulder, I know whatever decision you make would be the right call for you.

When the time comes, it's your call. I just was taking about by some people staying, others can't advance.
