Ever Had That Not So Fresh Feeling? (or Awful Hair Product Reaction)

I got a haircut today. It was time. I'd let it just grow and grow, getting it trimmed and taking care of it, but without any kind of point or purpose. It was weighing me down.

Time for a metaphysical break, to be triggered by an extreme action. I went with the haircut. Not unwise, and it did make me feel invigorated when it was done. I believe it is cute, too.

Unwisely, I decided to trust the stylist who did so well by my hair with applying product to my scalp and hair. Oh, how the mighty are fallen...

It didn't burn for five or ten minutes, long enough for me to patronize the product suggested for me. Then it started itching as I was driving home. Followed by burning.

I succumbed to the temptation of itching and found the product in my hair to be similar in consistency to cheap gum. Then the abrasive quality it possesses along with the thickness gave my thumb a couple of what felt like paper cuts.

And then the burning began. Only about ten more miles from home, I still needed to stop in at the office. Tried to concentrate on anything but the itching and burning sensations that reminded me that trusting anyone with a sensitive scalp without first explaining that it is a sensitive scalp can be a horrible error.

Quickly completed everything at the office and headed home. Trying to concentrate on anything but the itching and burning sensations (again, only in the area where the product was sprayed), I didn't sustain any more cuts.

Quickly into the bathroom, I washed and scrubbed to get all of the offending product out of my hair.

Now, I suspect that the stylist receives either a cut in the profits or is required to push the product as a condition of her job, but the flammable quality of the product was not only because the can was pressurized but also because there were so many varieties of alcohol in it. While I've heard that beer has its positive affects on hair, I don't believe methyl alcohol does.

At the moment, I believe that all of the itchiness is of the phantom variety. I'm still tempted to wash it again, but such is the way of the world.

Still worth it, though. Open to change and receptive to the universe is a good feeling. So what if it burns?

The burning means it's working.
