Rain Forest - Bedding By The Lake
Last week I spent everyday from Sunday to Saturday agonizing about something that I had to do.

Despite the fact that I had said I would be getting out the house this summer I still balk whenever time comes for me to get going.

Last Saturday was my real birthday so my wife and her friend planned a camping trip to celebrate. And I’m saying: “Why would I want to go spend my birthday sleeping on hard ground in the woods (by a lake, mind you), eat burnt food, and then have insects nipping at me like I was some kind of delicacy?”



So, all week I was miserable each time I thought about it. But, not wanting to seem ungrateful I kept the mumbling to myself.

Then of course, on Saturday my back, which had been nipping at me all week, decided to get worse. Now I’m trying to dig up the courage to say postpone the bloody thing.

Finally, I gave up bitching and got ready as soon as I got home (after a hour’s sleep) and we set out. Of course, I was upset that I left so late because most of the landscape on the trip was being shrouded in darkness.



Got to the campsite, immediately downed a bottle of cold beer, and suddenly I was having a great time; enjoyed my dinner, did some more beer, shoot the breeze until about 2 in the morning, and fell asleep as soon as my body hit the ground.

What a great night it was!

The rain is supposed to be the icing on the cake, at least, it is for me. Next time you go camping ,pray for rain, and when it starts just take everything off. You'll find that the rain is more fun then! Especially if you choose to dance.
