Metaphors...

This one is for Grayblue1 who re-ignited my interest in the greats!

METAPHORS

I'm a riddle in nine syllables,
an elephant, a ponderous house,
a melon strolling on two tendrils,
O, red fruit, ivory, fine timbers!

This loaf's big with its yeasty rising;
money's new-minted in this fat purse.
I'm a means, a stage, a cow in calf.
I've eaten a bag of green apples,
boarded the train there's no getting off
.

I'm a big fan of his "Gates!" And, of course, if it wasn't for him I might not have gone back to my college text which has, not only great lessons on poetry but, also, the poems of some of the greatest poets from every century!

Thank you! You're so right. If you noticed my cadence and wordings you might see that I get my English and my American mixed up sometimes.

I did mean my good friend out in the rainy N'West, Grayblue1. Didn't even realize there was a greyblue1. Good catch!
