Hendrix Redux
Consider this a Public Service Announcement!
For anyone out there who loves the music of Jimi Hendrix as much as I do; or even if you just love good music, "American Masters" feature the incomparable Jimi Hendrix this Tuesday at 9 p. m.



It should be on one of those PBS channels. I know it will be seen in New York and Ohio. You might have to check your listings to find it.

Quoting David Hinkley, who provided this information in one of those NY papers, "Every generation finds its own popular music, which is the way it ought to be.
What every generation should also do, though, is know where its music came from. That part requires a little more work, so it doesn’t always get done.
Happily, this Tuesday at 9 p.m. PBS offers a short course that should be mandatory for every rock fan... When we fossils from the 1960s talk about the musicians who mattered, the word “Hendrix” is always in the conversation, next to the Beatles, the Stones, Dylan, Motown."

He also points out: "Tuesday’s show on Hendrix isn’t a chore or an assignment. It’s a gift. You watch, you win."

I think I would like to think of myself as a connoisseur of clever lyrical compositions, the construction of words into sentences that just totally amazes you; and I love the lyrical composition of Jimi's music. But I could take the lyrics out and still gush about Hendrix.

(Now, if you think I just used a million words to convey a 5 word message, you should hear me after I've read some Shakespeare, or Chaucer!

I embarrass myself sometimes. )
