Stimulating

I seem to be losing my desire to write.

Actually, that shouldn't be 'desire'. My desire is still intact. My ability is still intact. My inspiration is still intact.

I have written over twenty poems since the last time I posted one here. Of course, they are only first drafts, even if they are completed works. But you never present first drafts. A first draft, no matter how well written, can always improve under careful revision.

You know how some people, when there's work to be done, seem to find something else to do (to avoid doing the work)? Well, I seem to be the reverse: Whenever there's writing to be done I seem to find work to do!

It can be very frustrating, makes me feel like I'm running out of time!

what's even more frustrating is the fact that I can't get in the habit of making notes; because of that a lot of posts that I would like to add remain incomplete because I forget where I was headed with my ideas and, therefore have to move on to something else.

This is why I never became an artist for a living, because I would surely starve.

I wrote this post to submit yesterday but wasn't sure I wanted to place it here. Maybe it's all crap because I actually completed or started working on some of those first drafts today. Maybe writing that yesterday stimulated something in my mind!

Yeah notes are the hurdle I forget most of my ideas sometimes they come back but a bit watered down.

Sometimes you need to take the leap and post and sometimes you need to tinker with it I guess there aren't any hard and fast rules there.

Unless you want to be critiqued and man that can hurt sometimes but as a friend use to say you may as well be hung for a sheep as to be hung for a lamb

In my opinion, go ahead and post a first draft, I miss your poems. I don't want to be a critic, I want to be swept away and to admire.

My older brother used to say that one a lot. Kinda was his excuse for cheating (as if he needed one).

I will do as you suggest either Tuesday or Wednesday. My problem is that I'm always hoping, when I post one of my poems, that a lot of folks will find it spectacular; I think that's expecting too much, but that's one of the personalities inhabiting this body of mine.

Sometimes I wish I was the only one using this body!

To be honest, I always do that. It's a form of holding back, which is somewhat crazy since nobody really knows who I am.

Well, that's the thing: I'm not sure my first draft will sweep you away. It's usually just an idea, but I can always re-work it afterwards, so I don't see why I always make it be a problem.

I used to think that.. let me write this awesome poem so that..

It only needs to express an emotion! That's it!

Here's hoping the next one is expressive enough, even for a first draft.
