Banning guns

I say repeal the Second Amendment. Ban guns except for target shooters, cops, security guards and trained militias. Guns are too dangerous for the mentally ill and angry to use for private vengeance. We have left the frontier behind when we need guns to kill rattlesnakes and rabid dogs.

Well, when was the last time someone needed a gun for his daily life? Things will change when the voters demand it.

Mustang,
I'll respect your desire to amend the Constitution, though I disagree with your choice of subject matter. However, the Constitution has been amended 27 times so far, and you're free to try to go for #28. In case you don't know what's involved, I'll give you the thumbnail version.

Get both the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives to approve your amendment by a 2/3 vote in both houses, and get 3/4 of the state legislatures (both houses, mind you, everywhere, but Nebraska) to ratify the amendment, within 7 years from date of passage, and you're off to the races!

Good Luck with that..... Maybe you can repeal the 2nd Amemndment and that tiresome, pesky, irrelevant Electoral College at the same time.

Yes there may be a need for hunters to keep deer populations in check, and there are rural areas without effective law enforcement. But most of the country would be better off with far fewer guns. the courts have gutted the Second Amendment, while I think it is no longer relevant for the purpose of allowing armed insurrection. the last civil War did not work out so well...
