Some thoughts on the Boston bombing

My condolences to the Boston bombing victims. Violence is a dark side of human nature. It is in part similar to the sex drive. An erotic drive is dark in that it runs against moral conduct codes of human societies. However, the key difference between violence and sex can be viewed with Sigmund Freud’s perspective: violence comes from the death instinct, while sex comes from the living instinct (“libido”). Violence causes death and remorse, while sex leads to rejoice and a sense of connections to other human beings.
