What if we got rid of Group Chat Beta?
We're moving towards one IMC system (to rule them all!). Right now we have:

1) Regular Instant Messanger
2) Group Chat Beta

Then for chat we also have:

4) Fast HTML Beta
5) HTML
6) Flash Chat

We want one version moving forward. First up on the chopping block is #2, Group Chat Beta. I broadcast every week and never use it because I get complaints about choppy sound and video. I like that there is a chat window, but I've found using it to be frustrating because the chat window is so small.

What do you think? Do you use Group Chat Beta? Should we keep it or drop it?

 Your broadcasts are usually choppy. Seems like it'll pause for a second or two then resume, so I'm still hearing everything you're saying, just not smoothly. It's usually like that throughout the broadcast.

The Fast HTML Beta never worked whenever I tried it out so I have no problem seeing that disappearing either.

 Since I'm a Mac user and I've never found any of NoStrings's IM options worked worth a damn, I'm hoping you completely revamp the current IM system so I don't have to give out my Yahoo IM name to anyone I actually want to chat with one-on-one.

 I mainly use beta because of the handy "Webcams" tab. Don´t dump it, or put that feature into regular IMC.

 If this past NoStrings live was an example of the "group chat beta" ... I go for Dump It.
This was the first week where you were choppy and I KNEW it wasn't anything I had done ( jarred the headphone, changed my volume, etc . which since I can't sit still happens rather often )

I have all of the most recent updates for flash and java, have the cache cleared both manually and by setting.

That feature is there~click the cam icon.
All the availble cams will then show in a list.
Far better than the way the beta shows them.

 Why is the system adding the words "BETA site" after each mention of A F F in these comments? I was NOT referring to the Beta site when I originally typed "Since I'm a Mac user and I've never found any of A F F's IM options worked worth a damn...(etc.)" This glitch is confusing the meanings of posts here, I suspect.

 It seems that most here so far are adding the cam feature as chat.
The IMC accesses the cam feature.Problems with video and audio are caused independently of the IMC.These issues really need a separate thread all their own.Note,I never saw Ryan's 'cam icon' on the IMC last wednesday.Typically that is where I do get his cam from for the meetings.His cam is also available on the video page.

 I've used every version of the IMC since I joined back in 'The Dark Ages"...and I'm on a Mac...for basic chat...the html won hands down...folks HATE the beta and the Flash versions period...as far as a cam version goes...the factors that are going to make huge differences are...your connection speed...your core processing power...your cam...
your audio input gain control...I've been webcasting for a looooooooooooooooong time...I know what works and what does not...DSL connections are the minimum for cams...anything less and it's crap...having a dual processor machine is very important...using a quality cam either FireWire or USB2 gets the best results...keep your browsers and Flash updated constantly...your mileage may vary...
