I don't want my friends to know where I blog

I don't want my friends to know where I blog

I don't want my family and friends to know where I blog. Most of them know I have a blog, they just never have been given the address. I have followed this policy from the beginning, figuring that it might change my writing if I was aware that people close to me here IRL were reading me.

What's up with that? It's not like I am hiding something forbidden, but I have jealously guarded it anyway. Perhaps I fear mild embarassment or even ridicule, but I do not think that is really it. Maybe it's because I like having something private, special only to me, where I can go say anything I want without real life repercussions. Or possibly I just keep it close to the vest because it is simpler that way.

Is this an issue with any of y'all? Do your "people" know where you blog?

I can certainly understand that Keith, mine is private too, except to my youngest brother who has an NoStrings profile...LOL. I happened to see it on the new list or whatever those pics are on the home page and I thought....crap, is that..?? my....brot?? awwwww noooo... it is, LOL. So, I sent him a message....and said well, hell since your here...might as well check out my blog.

He hasn't though...I think he's afraid of what he'll see.

People do know I blog....but I don't tell them where...but I do tell them I have one of those yellow 360 thingy's...and an msn whatchamacallit...but my NoStrings blog...is totally private to the rest of the world. And that's how it'll stay.

~~~ Just me, poppin to say HI! ~~
My family doesn't know I have more than one blog... I have the LiveJournal for G/PG rated stuff, and I HAD a blog here under another name for the naughty things I needed an audience for.
KCC,
Happy New Year my friend.
Blogs are not very big in Australia yet so it's not really an issue for me although I am having trouble explaining where my dates are coming from...
I'm more open and willing to share the info with the few people I know who would be both interested and able to handle it. However...
I do feel something of what you've described and that's why I don't necessarily tell people about it. We (all of us here) know what we've got, but how in the world do we explain it to others? That's what it is for me. No one else would understand.
Yeah, I'm still [blog 1hotwahine]
On a separate note...we're goofing around, casting a pretend movie of Blogville, and so far we have not cast you. Who should we get to play Keithcancook? And will he have a twisted twin?
Yeah, I'm still [blog 1hotwahine]
It's something about the freedom to express oneself without all the little masks we wear IRL to keep the social graces going. Not that I mind social graces, I'm all for social graces. We NEED social graces so that we can live in a peaceful society and I don't roger-ram-jet the next idiot who cuts me off because he's too fucking absorbed in his freakin' BORG-looking blue tooth phone conversation...uh, ahem, where was I?
Oh yeah, bloggerland. Yes. Freedom of expression. Gotta love it. And, no, my close ones IRL do not know that I blog on A F F.
For me, this is my first experience in Bloging. My best friend sorta got me started. I've always kept a private journal, in long hand, about the events or people in my life, sometimes ~I still write in it.
I do like the freedom here to express or grow into another phase of writing. I appreciate being among "like-minded" folks without judgement. Now, if the RL friends could only figure that out???
I think my daughter would have a "conniption fit" if she read my thoughts here! She already thinks that "mom's friends need to show her ID's".
Happy New Year, Keith
welcome back!!!
warm wishes
I'm glad you opened the doorway to this topic. Like you, I keep it private. I have plenty of reasons for doing that including family, friends, and colleagues (not to mention bosses) who would not understand. I discussed this a bit a while back in: [post 82720].
On another topic... great to see you here in the new year, my friend.
So this has become a family experience for you eh, slide? My sisters would probably enjoy a lot of the stuff in The Venting Blog, but I am going to keep it to myself for now.
The Venting Blog has pretty much maintained a "G" rating for most of its existence, Blue Leopard. Still, I occasionally post things on XXX topics. Those are mostly posted as comments in the blogs of others though...
Hi frangi! Happy New Year! It's good to see that you are still with us here in BlogLand. If you blog again, please do a post on some of those "explanations". I would be very interested to see what you have come up with!
My handle is kept close to the vest too, Purry. Jeeze, if ya have the handle, and if ya know how to google, well... that's all she wrote as far as blog security is concerned.
Well wahine, for me it's not so much trying to relate how I feel about blogging with all of y'all to someone IRL; I could express that pretty easily. I just fear that I would change the way I express myself or avoid certain topics due to concern over what my people here would think. In the end, it is all moot. The world is too small now to keep secrets. Eventually I will be "outed"....
A movie of BlogLand eh? Interesting idea. Thank you for asking for my input, wahine. I think that [blog dz2502] dz2502 would be an excellent choice for the part of keithcancook. He is an adept actor and has quite a long resume in the theatre-blog genre.
No family, friends, anyone in my life know about my blogs. I have one through m s n for my everyday life ramblings, extreme personal issues and the like and have my small following there, lol.
And then no one, even the fellow bloggers through the other blog, know where this blog is at. I've mentioned I have another blog on my 'PG geared' blog, they just don't know where.
People in my everyday life don't know I blog at all! It's not that I'm ashamed of my writing, it's just that I discuss things on my blogs that I prefer to keep out of everyone elses life. Plus, especially on the other one, it's where I go to bitch about them sometimes, LOL. Wouldn't do for them to see how much I go off in a tangent, they think I'm a good girl, haha....if they only knew.
Hi Keith-
I don't come here as often as I should, but I do truly enjoy reading your blog. Anyways, I am the same way. I would never want my family to know that I blog here. Not only would they think I am more insane than they know by reading it, but I believe I would be slightly embarassed that they know I frequent a sex site.
EGADS!
I'd hate to think what my mom would say.
BANG! POW! BOOM! a study in useless knowledge and sick humor!
Nope, this place is just for me. My own little world that I can retreat to. My fantasy island, if you will. Where I can be me, and not have to worry about what others will think if they see the real me.
OIC wahine. I visited your post and saw the format for your BlogLand Movie. Without question, the only actor qualified to play keithcancook is Homer Simpson. DOH!
There is no doubt about your ripping abilities Barbiebunzysweetiepiesugarplumhoneybunch. Lay it on us, sistah! We want more! Thank you for the New Year greeting. I hope it leads us to a meeting...
You fear that you might be spreading yourself thin, txrose? LOL, I think that you might be on to something there, girlfriend. Fourteen or so? No wonder you are unsure of the exact number.
I agree with you about content being a powerful lure to blog here.
It is very nice to see you in The Venting Blog once more. You will always hold a special place in the lore of this blog. After all, it was a response to one of your posts that launched the career of pigcancook!
Welcome to The Venting Blog, mangomami. Hmm, it seems that many families are along for the ride. Yours is the second response already with a sibling on this site. Perhaps I shall take up blog sociology one day, and do some research on familial blogging...
Well, it certainly hasn't seemed to affect the way you write FreeLove. You pretty much put it all out there it seems to me.
Welcome to The Venting Blog, womanoirish! I agree with what you say, and I love the way you said it. I hope you will come back and visit future posts. I like you already!
Hey! What's not to like? You're Irish for cryin out loud! (yummy)
I know just what you mean, my fair asianlady4love. I hope you will begin posting again soon. Your blog is pretty much a blank page now.
Blogging will be second nature to the next generation, waggypolly. My youngest daughter blogs, as do two of my nephews. Still, many will have secret blogs under anonymous handles. There will always be a need to express oneself without the threat of retribution or other hassles.
This is my first and only blog too, Maggie. I also have kept a journal in the past, but it has been almost 10 yrs. since I have written in it. Your point about "like-minded" folks is well taken.
LMAO on the ID comment. Good one, gf!
PS: You sure do have beautiful and intriguing eyes...
I followed your link and read the post, rocky. It is very well done, and I would urge any of my readers interested in reading further on this topic to check it out. Luckily for me, the presence of my blog here is not a threat to any of my loved ones.
I imagine that it is very difficult to blog on this site, all the while under threat of accidental exposure to folks who stand to be hurt if they discover it.
Thank you for the greeting, my friend. It is indeed the first post of the year for The Venting Blog!
If you have to be discreet, then the fewer who are aware of the blog, the better off you are security wise. That makes perfect sense to me, sassybelle.
Well, at least your grandma is supportive, LadySunrise. I would imagine that my people here would probably have similar reactions. I did tell a distant cousin about it once. I told him to google my screen name. He loved it and is now a member, but he doesn't blog.
Yeah, I know what you mean, expat, ol pal. I wouldn't want my family to know that I spent my spare time peeping in the neighbors window while she is showering. Not to mention those pix that you post...
I'm afraid that I would become too cautious with my material if I were to bring real life folks into my blog sphere, yagottalikit. Which is my main reason for keeping it close.
I suppose that includes me then, sexyfitwoman.
Hmm, I wonder if any of your people or my people have found the dang things, but haven't confronted us about it yet, Daph? Grrr, that would be something. Reading us but saying nothing...
(oh well, we are writing, but not telling. It must be some form of karma...)
Ignorance is usually bliss, sj. Nice to see you again, sweetie.
I understand completely, jadey. It seems that many of you have alternative blogs. It is hard enough to keep up with one blog as far as time goes...
silky, I am happy to be one of your blogger friends. It would be even better to be one of your real life friends. I wonder, would you break your rule and show me your blog if I was?
Keith~
I have to say that like you, I have kept my blogging world to myself. Not because I am embarrassed or ashamed of what I am doing here, but because I have already caused so muh stress for my friends and family with my "uncontrolled" sex talk and thoughts. They didn't want to hear it anymore, paper diaries always seemed to be discovered, read and then lectured about. "Geez Angel, maybe you should get some counseling." so instead of subjecting them to it, I have instead found somewhere I can be free. Think outloud. Share completely without thought or concern to whether or not I was going to be judged or lectured yet again. I have found an outlet that is acceptable and doesn't seem to cause stress for those that are in my "real world", if only the "real world" could accept me as readily as all of you did. Wow, what a wonderful place that would be for me...
no... I don't tell anyone about my blog. My wife told me yesterday that Oprah had a show on this week about secrets. And how many people have hidden things in their life that no one else knows about. And I know that some of those things can be destructive, like hidden gambling habits, etc... but I don't find blogging to be that way at all. For me it's enabled me to have an outlet for all sorts of things that I don't have anyone else to talk to about and it's enabled me to meet some really cool people who I'm learning from and starting to build friendships with.
