[post 1704243] I did a title view the other day and realized that I hadn't written anything "nice" in months. But this damn near 60 hour week left me really tired giving me a really vivid 3D color type of dream. At least my subconscious mind is still firing on all cylinders...or not...you decide. I was in the Wise Way store in Dolton Illinois on Sibley Boulevard. Yeah I know it's been gone for decades, but that's where I grew up. It was a little different though in that the Decor was much more like an Indian casino than a grocery store with all the fancy wood work and such. And I was there with my horse. I don't even own a horse, but in my dream I did. A beautiful lightish brown horse with a golden mane and shiney coat. The envy of everyone in town. A big step up from the goats I used to heard. But I promised no goats. So anyhow my horse is eating hot dogs (plastic wrap and all) in the refrigerated section right out of the cooler and then she takes off running. So I start running behind her screaming her name, but there was no sound. Have you ever been so upset or scared that your screams turned silent? Me neither, but in my dream I was. She ran to the back of the store and around the isle. Then toward the front of the store. I could see her silhouette in the sun that was shining through the front windows. I thought I would catch her at the cash registers. And I almost did, but she still made it out the automatic doors ahead of me. Even though I was only strides behind her when I got out the door she was gone. And across the parking lot and across the street a good quarter mile away I could see a lot of commotion. Flashing lights and all that. I continued to run as fast as I could. As I got closer I saw a man holding a rifle and pointing at something on the ground. I continued to scream, but the knot in my throat left me still silent. I ran up behind the nearly lifeless body of my horse and fell to the ground. When I touched her back with my open arms and chest and cheek she stopped gasping for air and it appeared she had died. The guy yelled at me "She got hit by a car...I have to put her down". I somehow forced a tearful "But I want to say good bye" from my voice box. Then he screamed "I thought you already said good by". Just then he noticed that my beautiful horse had stopped breathing and he mumbled "No matter...she's already gone". I walked around to the front of her and looked into her big beautiful eyes. Her mouth was agape and her tongue laid out on the pavement. My knees went weak and I fell down on them and broke down in tears. Somehow between all my sniffing a snorting I managed to whimper a "Good Bye August". Just then she rose up before me. As radiant as ever. Larger than life her rising image looking right at me drowned out everything in the back ground. I never said good bye to August. Many times the couple that bought her invited me to see how she was doing, but I never made it over. Yes two weeks later I still feel like I let August down and if I had stepped in just a little sooner I could have saved her. [post 1692018] So I guess the moral of the story is don't put off today what you can do tomorrow because someday tomorrow will never come. Sincerely, Lizard E. Lover

Must be a problem with the links. I didn't even see the posting of the top 10 until after the final winners were announced. Also, would be good to know which Haikus won top three rather than just the winners usernames.
